Thermo valve - 058 131 851 A necessary ?
Hello,
I pressurized my intake system and revealed leaks in this valve.
Should I replace it or should I just connect the two vacuum hoses together?
It has got to do with the fuel vapor distribution if I have understood it right.
Perhaps emissions will suffer?
Cheers

It is a thermally activated vacuum valve that allows vacuum to pass to a vacuum solenoid that aids in venting the charcoal canister. Once the engine reaches ~50*C the valve is open all the time so if you bypassed it and connected the 2 lines together you should be fine. Unless, of course, I have that backwards and it is only open UNTIL the engine warms up... all of a sudden I feel really uncertain on that point.
If one of the nipples is broken off you are hosed, but if it is just cracked or otherwise leaking you could likely repair it with some epoxy.

there was a post about this not too long ago, you can simply remove all the charcol canister vac lines and cap them off respectively at the manifold and j boot and just add a vent to the tank breather. fixes all the vac leaks, cleans up the engine bay, and many other small perks. look for charcol canister removal

Well.. It was about time this was written down! There have been rumors or smalls words said about this topic but there has never been someone who said; block it; remove it or something similar!

I bypassed mine a long time ago, along with the removal of the diaphragm on the driver side of the engine and the hose that goes into the j-boot.
All I have is a hose that runs from the fuel tank into the charcoal canister, no problems.

Remove the charcoal canister all and associated plumbing, block the little nipple on the TB where it connects, and then you can either use an appropriate sized bolt to replace the sensor or find a non-turbo water neck which doesn't have the bung.
