Can you install Turbo S spindles/hubs/brakes and retain early offset phone dials?
I know I have seen Turbo S brake discussions on early offset 86' cars before but the search function didn't turn up anything so I am making a new post.
I was messing around with my 86' car today and my 88' project car and had the front wheels off of both and roughly measured the hub distance from the edge of the disc to where the wheel meets the hub and they are extremely close if not exactly the same from what I saw. Of course I did this very quickly, but it looked about the same to me. So I started thinking if I got a set of spindles/hubs/brakes from a Turbo S and mounted them to my 86' control arms/suspension, would I still be able to run my early offset phone dials without any negative effects? I'm sure I am overlooking something since this just ran through my head very quickly, but it seems like the measurements would be the same if you retained the 86' control arms/suspension/tie rods.

Yes, and I can tell you firsthand that the early offset 16" phones fit over the TurboS calipers, both the 7's and 8's. However you need to run a small 7mm spacer in order for the bleed valve to clear the back inside of the wheel.

We recently did this modification on a friend's '86 and yes it works, however you are likely to need wheel spacers to clear the M030 calipers. We used 7mm spacers and the Fuchs wheels (either 7" or 8") fitted fine.

although i dont run exactly what you are describing. i have late offset 3way adjustable Koni and 944s2 hubs and axels along with early offset steel control arms. i then used lindsey brake adapters to upgrade up to the turbo S brakes. i have run my early offset phone dials without any spacers. there was about 1/2mm clearance between the spokes and the porsche lettering on the calipers.
any particular reason you want to keep with the phone dials Colin?
