I know, I know. I said I would be there.... I let you down.... Sorry
Lets get this thread back on track. I will be looking for more suggestions as soon as I move all the junk out, and finish busting the rest of the concrete feeding troughs out. I hope to start in next couple weeks.

Im jealous. Looks like its going to be really useful. I think getting a lift in there is going to be a little tight but, if you don't mind being on your back I suppose it doesn't matter. However isn't that the point of the lift? To be able to walk around under the car freely and have full range of motion when working on the car.

Since I was having insulation sprayed under my office, I had them spray my shop as well for the writeoff. All I need now is a 4 ton A/c unit and I will be ready for summer.
Would like suggestions for light under the remaining ceiling. The lights that I have don't give me enough light on my work bench. I would rther not have similar lighting as the ceiling is low. Something recessed would be nice. Any suggestions??
Thanks

I would suggest LED lighting panels for that area. You would simply not believe what 30w of LEDs can illuminate. We just finished installing over 500 2x2 LED panels (to replace over 1000 4 bulb 2x4 T12 fixtures) at work as a lighting upgrade and part of our "Green" initiative (basically a write-off) in the building. They cost a little bit to install, but they are much brighter and you need less of them to light up the area as the light more evenly... just a suggestion (oh and they are very low profile, only about 2.5-3 inches thick with the power supply mounted on top). I bet you could get away with only 4-6 of them for the entire shop area. I would also recommend running them from a UPS system (a standard sized one for a PC would suffice) for power spike suppression

The downside is the price.....

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and see what they have for cheap surface mount 4’ strip fixtures – plan on buying a lot – its good to have a lot of light. Lots of ‘cheap’ fixtures are better than just a few expensive ones. The 40x40 part of my shop where I do most of the engine work has 18 4’ fixtures (2 bulbs each) – and some extra task lighting!

100% agree. My electrician looked at me like I had 2 heads when I had him put up 22 4' dual fixtures up in my garage (a little smaller than Chris' engine area). I love it - it's an awesome amount of light!
