Default Lindsey Silicone Intercooler Hose Fitment Question

I just installed my Lindey Racing silicone intercooler couplings. Couple of quick questions.

At the intercooler, the 2 1/4" straight couplings fitment was not as snug on the hardpipes as I had expected.

The 2-1/4" - 2" reducer elbow for turbo connection is seems very loose at the intercooler hardpipe and I had to trim it a bit to fit becuase it was too long.

Are these issues normal?

All that being said, they appear to seal, but I have not driven car yet (just idled it in the garage).

Thanks

I was not happy with the couplings I recieved in a kit, So I measured myself and the ordered the appropriate purosil couplers with reducers from Hose techniques. I was very happy with the fitment. Price was reasonable as well.

FWIW I have the same fitment issues...loose fit to the pipes prior to clamping, but they look like they'll be ok once clamped down. My bigger issue is the clamps that came w/ the kit, I've had to replace three of those already on zero run time as their screws were skipping over the tightening threads prior to reaching proper pressure on the hoses.

I cant stand hose clamps that strip. Hose Techniques also had a special for 9.99 for two T-bolts clamps which hold great. Theirs are not as substantial as the ones from true seal or breeze, but they fit into tighter places easier. They dont have the side guards that keep the steel perfectly straight.

T bolt clamps FTW especially if you ever decide to turn up the boost.

Hi Fergus. I bought the same kit and plug wires as well. Part of their Christmas special. I haven't installed them yet, but I don't like what I'm hearing with the fitment issue. What colour did you get?

I have the red set. Matches the vacuum hoses.

I will also be converting to t-bolts at some point. Had the same issue as cheetahchrome, once they got to a certain tension, they just started to skip on the tightening threads.

So the clamps are useless then. Good to know beforehand. I will buy some good ones before the install. I have the red set as well to go with the red vac hoses, plug wires and under-hood pad (red Porsche emblems).

Sean (azmi951) here on Rennlist sells Tial silicone intercooler hoses. They're awesome. Not only do they look awesome, but they seal great. Plus, it comes with a full set of T-clamps. PM him if you're interested; I'll see if he can post up.

Now tell me this doesn't look like sex. Keep in mind that due to the different intercooler pipe going from the turbo to the cooler, I was unable to use the stock replacement hose (the one that is ~7" long and fitted to mirror the stock hose).

Those are very nice looing couplings and the t-bolt look very robust.

These are the ones I mentioned from hose techiques and their clamps. Pardon the zip tied catch can, Just got the car back on the road, going to have a bracket made this week.

And yes, that is the AFM, it was a major pain to fit, glad its done.
