Default Poll: Should I late-offset the front or early-offset the rear

Here is the situation:

I wanted to change the wheels on my 1986 951. When I bought the car 6 years ago, it had late-offset PD's. I knew the front had spacers and the rear had no spacers. I always thought that they looked somewhat "in", but mostly at the front.

The front set-up is definitely early-offset, but it appears (see this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...986-951-a.html) that the rear was converted at one time to late-offset.

I could get a nice set of used BBS LM's from a fellow Rennlister. They are 17" but in early-offset.

So the question is:

Should I late-offset the front and find some other wheels?
OR
Should I early-offset the rear and get the BBS LM's?

What is needed to late-offset the front?

What is needed to early-offset the rear?

Doing spacers the right way can be just as much of a PITA as changing out the hubs and spindles so I voted to go with changing the rear back to early offset and picking up those BBS LMs.

What's involved in changing the rear back to early offset?
