Just couldnt work hard enough to get the metal completely clean in front of and behind and in-between. So I just stayed prepared for fire. - Car is just a shell anyway. not even 1 wire left. WHICH by the way weighed in another 20lbs. Might put back 5.

I'm going to post this on my project Thread. Sorry for the hijack!
Acid dip is about $1100 and e-coat is about $600 Both together and you have a new car for under $2k. If you look around, I'm sure you can find it a bit cheaper.

Well once I get my clutch for my 3.0L I could probably put my car on the dyno here at the shop and max the 2.5 out lol.

I will be running a 70 plus Lb per min turbo with a ported head, intake mods, TB, na cam a few other bolt on items. Knowing I can run over 30 psi with less items it should do pretty well.

Also I think Bruce should really be mentioned here since he still was using a stck longblock and made more HP than has been posted
That will be interesting, but not really "bone stock" with ported head and na cam

If only intake/exhaust can be changed I suppose 95one/Bruce has the top numbers?

Markus' old engine that ended up in my car did make 495 rwhp with stock internals/head. That was at 1.3 bar. I can promise you I made some record numbers when the same engine overboosted to 1.8 bar
Although short lived at that boost

Edit: I turned it to 11!!!!

Didn't tool have a stock head, cam, longblock when he made 475@wheels?

And yeah, Marcus' motor proved many of my personal guesses. - It rocks.

Did that motor have shorter piston skirts? isn't that part of what made it slap around in there?

It had stock 968 pistons and 951 rods. Rod no 3 broke straight off at the big end.

Did the piston wedge itself in the bore and cause that maybe?

rod failure or bolt failure???
so the verdict is back and we have not realy found the limit of the 968 pistons ??that were previously blamed .
hard to say what realy happened and one conponent flexing to much can lead to a chain reaction and another part breaking .
bore movement crank flex bolt stretch
