I don't even know what I'm going to do about the heat exchanger nose bracket. Radiator, oil cooler, Intercooler.
I keep looking at other forums and other builds to get some ideas. nothings really jumping out at me right now. It will probably be all Aluminum with a strong Cross-bracing attidude. Mixed in with a bump bar and body support tabs. It will be a slide on/off piece secured with two verticle bolts for ease of access. Many cues will be taken off the Lindsey racing bracket, - yellow race-car - but about 1/2 the weight of theirs. The stock steel piece I cut off was 23lbs. The Stock bumper was 24lbs. The aluminum tow bar was 8lbs.
The new GT bumper I think is 12lbs, (Still need one if any of you are selling used) and the new bracket should be around 10lbs. A significant weight loss off the furthest point of the car. 30+ lbs.
Fiberglass Doors arent in the budget this time around. But will net me another 50lb savings! And that is where I plan on offsetting much of the Cage weight.
My Brakes and (inexpensive) wheels and tires will unfortunately be adding around 10lbs per corner... ouch
Club racing is still a hope. I need to sort the car to some point of reliability before I start racing.

Also Bruce, have you finished your trans brace development? Is it fine now?

I didn't get to be at the shop long today. But here are some updated and pics.
Please. no ribbing about the rims. I know they look like they came off a Hot Wheels car. But they were only $400 for all 4. and they were 10.5" wide. Quick fix until later.
I got the Driver rear fender off. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as cutting is concerned. Looooong way to go. Complete rear is going away and other fender side of course. and much of the roof. Glass Quarters are going to be lexan.
Problem is, we placed the GT widebody rears against the car. Man. they don't look like they're going to come even close to fitting. Not very happy. Going to have to make them fit. in the end, no one will know, but damn it's going to take another weeks worth of work. This is why projects always take double the time they're suppose to.
Probably won't have any updates until Thursday night.
Just for a quick idea though. The fender part pictured is 21lbs. the one going on is 9.

Bruce,
Those wheels are really something! (couldn't resist) Man you are going nuts. Good luck with all that. What's your timeframe goal for getting it back together?

Have you gutted the stock doors? If you remove the windows/hardware, and cut off the inside panel (roll the edges in), the door ends up weighing very little.
