Not 100% sure, but I believe its a 2.7 flat 6 for the base and a 3.2 flat 6 for the S.

The "S" is a 3.4ltr flat 6 with 295hp at 6250rpm. Don't let that 295hp sound low, these are quick cars. For those haters out there, get over it. I love the 944t but, there are quicker cars and don't give me a modded 944t vrs a stock Cayman S story, its not fare to compare the two. OF course a modded 951 is faster.

ps - the 09's have 320hp/295tq

Even with mods, and forced induction, an S wouldnt have much on a 3.0 951. Dont get me wrong, Id own a cayman s. Its got it all, power, midengine, and its a coupe. I still cant justify 70k, when I can build a 3.0 for under 30k including the car before mods. What does the cayman s really have on a 3.0 other than a bit of displacement? The non S absolutely nothing.

I like them. Very pretty. Of course thats in the eye of the beholder. I like the vintage look of my 951, personally. The 951 is still the bang for your buck king. The cayman never has and probably never will have forced induction. Without FI, it would be obliterated by a turbo 3.0. At least porsche actually made a 3.0 turbo. To me thats sticking to the pedigree a bit more than say, joe blow racings aftermarket kit. At least Porsche designed it, configured it and optimized it.

Also IMO, Porsche built better cars in the 80's. less mass produced. Time will tell if the new stuff holds up as well. Of course just my .02 cents. In he 80's they achieved a level of quality theyve yet to 1up. Seems like the more years go by the more watered down they become.
