Default Turbo Rebuilder recommendations

Can anyone recommend a place to get a stock turbo rebuilt? My BOV failed and this is what it looks like now

Thanks

Oh also need recommendations on a replacement BOV, should I go stock or aftermarket or what?
I am on a bit of a budget as well so reasonable costs are important to me

Thanks

waste of time and money just get another good 2nd hand one here they out last the car when things arn't dropped in them and they are comparably more to rebuild.
If no one else gets one out I think there is one at home might be missing a bolt or have a broken stud but you can just strip that one you have .
I'll be home in 6 to 10 days

If you do not plan on upgrading the turbo, you might want to check pricing on a new unit or a clean used one. Rebuilds when done correctly are not cheap.
Your compressor wheel is gone, I have a few good used ones (left over from the cheater turbo upgrade) if you need it.

Are you sure that your problem is the result of a bad BOV? From the looks of that compressor wheel, your turbo chewed on something.

Regardless, I had a good experience with www.turbo-performance.com in CA. They sent me a rebuilt K26 cheater turbo for a few hundred bucks + core...service was top notch.

Thanks I thought about just replacing the impeller since that is all that is wrong with the turbo but was told I could not replace it myself as it has to be balanced.

what do you mean by your BOV failed. Did it drop something into the turbo or did it stop recirculating air or what.

Yes what happened was I was a full boost and then let off the gas all at once, I heard a pop and the car quit, I opened the hood and found the large vaccuum hose on the manifold had popped off. I put it back on and the car started right back up and ran smoothly, but when you put the engine under a load there was an aweful howl, took the Jboot off and thats what I found.

I was told that it was probably my BOV that failed and the pressure ruined it, I can't find any method to test the Valve either.

I appreciate any help, this is my first attempt at fixing up a car, needed a new hobby and found this turbo car at a garage sale and have been working on it for the past 3 months.

when you put the hose back on, In between shifts was the BOV making the "psssh" noise like a normal one would do.

an old bike tube hosed clamped to the snoat and fold it over on the other end and vise grip it then pump the tube up to 20 psi and squirt saopy water on or dunk it in the sink.
you can can just carefully screw another wheel on carefully there is a reasonable chance of success use a T bar and 2 hands to not put any side load on the shaft ..

I forget their name, but call Porsche NA and get the name of their rebuilder. Excellent work, not cheap.

The guy that LR uses, retired in OK City, used to work for a guy names Penske, in an old racing series called CART.
