Default Need advice on damaged turbo

Hey, I just picked up this turbo, it is in overall great shape but there seems to be a gouge in the center of the hotside wheel. Will the turbo run properly in this condition? Was material removed to balance it? Can it be rebuilt? The rest of the turbo is in flawless condition and the fins on the hotside are all perfect even directly under the gouge. Thanks for your time in advance.

Its hard to say, you can send it to a turbo rebuilder to see if its out of balance or not... no other way to tell for sure.

If it's done correctly you will be fine.

do you mean if it is rebuilt and balanced correctly I will be fine? Thanks for your input. Perhaps I should send it out just to be sure.

If the modification you are looking at was done correctly, and there is no problem with the turbo, just use it. It appears that you purchased this turbo used, did the PO mention anything about a problem? If you have concerns, have it checked/rebuilt.. Email if I can assist.
