Who is running 18x10 front and rear?

Old thread back to life
On the front of my '88 951 S I want to run 18x9.5" with a 255/35-18 tire and -1.75 camber. The wheels are being custom made so I can specify any offset.
I think 333pg333 uses 18x10" ET60 with a 285 or 295 tire but with -4 camber which adds a huge amount of clearance at the fenders.
Tony G says he uses 17x9" ET55 with 275/40-17 which would take up more room in the fenders than my proposed combo.
So who else has been able to fit big fronts without fender mods?

I have 285-30-18s out back and had to clearance the inner fender well, and will be rolling the lips both front and rear to elliminate the occasional lip to tire kiss durring street driving.
but I am alos running what is approaching a track setup, sans sky high spring rates... this winter will bring 350 fronts, and 600 rears t-bar delete, ploly bronze and ER monos in the rear, I already have ER monos in the front, GC camber plates and turbo cup replica strut tower bar..
And yes I have fully resealed my power steering and it now has no leaks and great feedback...
why do you feel you need custom made rims 9.5 wide for the 255s? or are you doing the custom rims for offset advantages?
use http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp for more info, or calculations for tire / rim combinations and offset...

These are 18x10 CCWs with 285-30-18 A6s on stock, unrolled fenders with -3 camber in the front, easily possible. 255s on 18x9.5 = why even bother, not big enough for any real upgrade - may as well stick with stock, known wheel sizes.

I agree but didn't want to flame him for buying custom made rims... 255 easily fit on 9 inch wide rims... or can bump onto 10 inch rims without looking stretched too bad...

Your specification feedback is much appreciated!
I have my own reasons for wanting 255/35-18 front tires and IMO a 9.5" wheel will be the best fit. I know I can fit a 255 on a 9" or step up to a 10" for a 265+ but 255 or 9.5" is where I want to be
What brand/model of tire do you have? Do you have 951S M030 front suspension?
My plan was to use 18x9.5" +54mm which would mean I have 5mm less rim/tire to strut clearance than your set up has.
Your specification feedback is much appreciated!

I am running 245-35-18 on a 18x9 rim, 55 offset, -1.75 camber and am JUST kissing the fender liners durring spring compression with the car lowered 2 inches.

BFG G-force KDW2s, 245-35-18 fronts and 285-30-18 rears, excelent wet weather traction, neutral feel, solid on road handling... I like the tires but they can be a little loud... but the tread patern looks cool.... I have not taken them on track YET...

standard 87 951 spindles and control arms, M474 strut bodies with hacksaw inserts, 300lb springs with paragons adjustable ride height kit,
I still need the geometry correcting kit / bump steer kit to compensate for the ride height.

Geometry correcting ball joint kits.. larger, stronger pin, and almost 2x as long as the origional..
http://www.rennbay.com/track-kit-wit...pins-p-97.html
adjustable bump steer kits.. weather sealed and priced to match..

these are the last 2 pieces of my front end I need...

Is there any reason why you are looking for this exact setup 9.5" x 255?

Johnkoawood, have you looked into RE-11's or AD08's?
I'm running ad07's now and have used RE-01r's in the past, both are really great tires, but haven't had a chance to run the newer versions of these tires.

I ran almost that configuration with my Simmons wheels. ie 18 x 9" et 51 w 255/35 up front. You should have no issues as far as clearance unless you have big springs, lots of neg, and a very low car.
Is there any reason why you are looking for this exact setup 9.5" x 255?

Well you'll have a range of rim sizes for those tyres as you know. I'm sure 9.5" will be fine.

Ok I'm not getting these offsets please help me ..
Ok pat run's 10" et60 all round on an 86
weston Dillard runs 65 all round -15 spacer rear so thats 65/ 50 on an 87 ..
is an 87 the later offset ?
is there only realy 2 car off sets post 86?
i am using 968 rear arms
custom front arms 330 long 968 spindles ..
so mine will be like a 968 in offset terms ..
so will i be ok with my 65 front and 47 rears? 10"

Mine was on a late offset 89 Adam. You couldn't fit et 60 on early offset.

If you're going racing, as I have, I really don't think you can go with too much tire providing you keep the wheels light and keep them tucked in so you aren't creating a whole bunch of unnecessary drag. Also a square setup doesn't mean the car is going to explode! Run what makes sense for what you're doing. You don't need stagger if don't have the power to justify the big rears, as for making the argument that you don't need the big fronts if your car already turns in nicely - I'd say you're not driving through the corner hard enough!
If you're just building a street car then do whatever you want! Stretch, poke, zero offset, whatever trend makes you happy. Also keep in mind tire sizes are subjective, so one 285 might fit, but another might not. You need objective numbers like overall diameter and section width. Again, this isn't tricky, all the info is readily available.
