Default Battery Maintainer vs. trickle charger

Now that my 951 is put away, I am wondering if a battery maintainer is in order. I currently use my trickle charger after couple of weeks to top up the charge on the battery, but was wondering if the electronics in the maintainer would be worthwhile over my "manual" approach.

I have been using several Harbor Freight battery maintainers on my cars and find that they work very well. The are usually on sale for around $7. You can also just disconnect the negative battery lead.

I loved my battery tender. Set it, and forget it. I got mine from NAPA for $30.

Canadian Tire now has a CTEK charger that looks good. It was on sale for $59 CAN a week or two ago. Check out the Canada forum for a thread about them.

^^ +1 on the Cetek charger. Rock solid build quality and perfect functionality. After many winters of recharging the battery every time I needed to work on the car, this thing is a winner!

Battery tender brand is what I use. Plug it in, and forget about it.

I have Cetek xs3600 (or is it 3600xs)? It won best of test in one of the auto mags in the UK. Quite simply I wouldn't look at anything else. Faultless.
