Oh ok yeah I had a feeling I picked mine up local for $500. Oh yeah to answer the question you asked a while ago....I used a black silicone sealant on the clear taillight lenses. Thats what nicole's instructions said to use and thats what would keep the stock look the best. I did it last week, I guess I need to snap a pic.

Sorry to hear the wheels won't work out for you. Are these the ones that vwvortex was selling?

Yep! They were. I see a set that are 8" front ET50 and 10" rear ET65.
What must I do to make those fit? I've never learned about this stuff, and surprisingly, search hasn't helped me much, if at all.

I believe they will!

I didn't know much about offsets and stuff until I purchased these a month ago. Just a lot of studying but I find offsets more interesting than math and history

So what offsets do I need to find for front and rear with say 8 or9" fronts and 10" rears, on my 87? That would help a ton! I'd like to find wheels. Porsche stock, that I can run without a spacer.
Then I can go find what I need
The fronts are not the problem. It's the rears.

You can pretty much use any N/A 993 or 996 narrow body rear wheel.

But what you want to use is what's pictured above. They are rare, fit, and look great.

Uh... except the small detail of having to use spacer on the front wheels (which affects the front end geometry).

And BTW, a 275 will fit under the stock front fender with no mods.

Is this as big of an issue on a strict street car as it would be on the track?
What is the optimum et number for an 8" wide front wheel, on an 87?

Thanks again for all your help. Wheels just baffle me.

BTW, I looked into the wheels you posted, and will look some more. It will depend on the price. Funds is funds...

The issue of the wheel spacer is only an issue if you change the overall offset of the wheel. Meaning... you combine the offset of the wheel plus the spacer width to get your overall offset.

If this overall offset is different than the stock offset you will affect the handling of the car. Maybe for the better or maybe for the worse (more likely), depending on the setup.

Again, IMHO, finding the right tire and wheel combo is key. If your off on one or the other, things will rub. Keep lowering and alignment in mind. Once you start changing those dimensions, things can rub.

This is on my 89'S(factory rolled rear fenders). For a no drama fitment, I'm finding 10" wheels(285/295 Mich sport cups) to be the best, 10.5's if you can go custom. The rear of these cars squat, keep that in mind.

Yeah, I'm starting to factor everything in. I'm going to an Escort cup rear end, with heavy springs again. That will help a bit. I may have to find a tire size that "stretches" a bit, so that the side wall isn't so vertical, and roll the fenders.
What does it cost to have those two fenders rolled? Any idea?

If it doesn't work out, I'll out them up for sale. They are freaking perfect.

Ehall, your wheels (any 40'ish et wheel on late offset) will stick out past the fender by over an inch. Trust me, I was in the same boat, I wanted a set with a 4"+ outer lip but without MAJOR fender mods, it won't work. You would have to use fender flares to make the room.

You can get a fender lip roller. Search it. Some people even rent the machine that bolts to your hub and rollers the inner fender lip.

I am using 3pc Kinesis and I have changed wheel halves around. The best I can do with 295's msportcups is 10.5" but they are exact, 10's and 285's are probably best. If you want a no drama solution(no cutting, grind, minor rubbing) sell them and get the right offset.. thats what I had to do.

ehall,

I actually rolled my own rear fenders to elimate an occaisional rub. It was only about an 6 to 8" section at the front of the rear wheel well. You might be able to rent a fender rolling tool (not sure if they make one for 5 x 130 bolt pattern) or use the baseball bat approach which I did. I know that others have ground the inner lip to create the clearance.
