Default I guess I'm too late, My project was done 5yrs ago?

Some of the older members on here must be laughing at me, or thinking I'm trying to "scam" an old idea as new. I was searching for lighter weight alternators, and I found this for some reason. \
An old *** article about Bob Howard and his Norwood built, Motec M4 tuned, de-stroked 2.6 liter 968 with Darton Sleeves. jesus. It's almost EXACTLY what I am building. It's also black. Well. I'm a little behind on this, but it will be done with subtle differences. A slightly higher compression ratio (If I can get the pistons right) Ethanol and updated turbo technology.
This car is even NEXT freakin door to me in Dallas. Anyone know what happened to it?

Google, "Bob Howard 944 Turbo" and you can open a PDF file with the article.

I found the same thing with Danno and someone else when I decided to throw my 83 NA engine in.

However,I believe I am the only one running a Hoslet/Garrett hybrid turbo

I am pretty sure I will be the only one with a dual pipe crossover too?? How about my enrichment setup???

It's nice to be unique but not very easy I have found.

Regardless, your car is and will be pretty badass and the E85 should give an edge over race fuel for the higher compression.

Sid, your set up is certianly unique. The enrichment set up is what I would call advanced old school - positively, not negatively.

Dual crossover.. Can't wait to see that.

But yeah. I was a little frustrated when I saw the article. I can only say that I've got a few newer tricks to that set up. What I Don't have is the Dry sump - (A little pricey, but I want one) and the placement of the turbo (I feel Bobs set-up is completely un-necessary - cool nonetheless)

It's to fit in The PCA racing rules under GT2 without being a little piggy.
If it's a 2.5 liter 4v, I'm allowed to get down to 2400lbs Car and driver.
If its a 3.0 liter 4v, I've got to jump the cars weight up to 2950. Too damn heavy.

I'm curious though, anyone know where this car is now?

I heard it went to a different tuner (JME) to get sorted and it hit the track circuit again in Tx. Haven't heard much more about it but it sure is a looker.

wow. I'd like to know what they are doing. He's on of the most famous 951 tuners there is.

Yeah he's officially retired to new customers and does "consulting" work for very high rolling customers. Can't say I blame the guy.

I'll try to dig up the info on the Bob Howard car...there's quite a few threads on it from 'back when'.

Last I heard, it no longer has a front mounted turbo. Was supposed to have been shaken down late last year @ TWS IIRC. I'm having some trouble remembering though.

just got an update that the car JUST got the bugs out last month. Since John Milledge has been working on it.
Bold statement, but I've never seen much reliability from any Norwood project. Thumbsdown on his work.

Whats sad is, I have the exact same Widebody kit waiting to go on. I'm going to have to go another color or something. No definately another color. I'm thinking a deep metallic Mercedes Grey.
My newer -proposed- wing will be pretty cool though.

Well if you're going for originality, TMS did a widebody with similar bodywork and a dark metallic grey paint....

Just make it your own, so what if its the same color as someone else's, just be you and it will come out in the end. Making your "mind's eye" vision into reality will always separate you from someone else...ask me how I know

Good luck and post some info on the wing...I'm a huge fan of purposeful, ungodly huge wing setups.

Interesting article nonetheless. I wonder why they moved the turbo from there and where they moved it to? Be good if someone could dig up some more recent info on that car.
Well black is the color of choice of many Badass racecars. I was thinking the same thing as one of the 2 cars I'm deciding to use for my project is Black also but there might be too many of that colour. So it would be nice to do something original.
No matter, as Gabe says, you'll make it your own no matter what you do to it.

The car ran great at the Hallet PCA race last month. I beleve the the turbo is now in the passenger footwell like a lot of the other mega-built 944 racers.

Yes that's where I figured they had moved the turbo to. So what does it run against and where does it come in the field?
