Default Rear coil-overs, how to clear trans cooler?

I'm can't fit one of my new rear coil-overs onto the car because my trans cooler is in the way.

What have others done to deal with this issue?

I didn't have any issues with my cooler. Let me know more and I will look under my car this evening and give you some feed back.

Is it binding against the coil?

It needs about 1 1/2 inches to clear, I don't think the fins will do it. I'm sure I could make it work... Just wanted to know if there is a legitimate way to solve this problem without doing it "My" way.

Most guys, myself included, use 2.25" springs and don't have an issue but it is still close. The cooler line itself can be bent a bit closer to the trans but you need to do it easily (without blunt force) to prevent cracking the line at the transmission inlets.

I'm pretty sure I am using 2.25 ID sprigs as well.

Yeah... I managed to move that thing enough to get them in there, ill just have to modify the brace.

Looking at the picture your trying to use an 8" 2.5" 500lb Eibach spring. The number is intelligent it looks like 0800 250 0500 You need to be using 2.25" that will help a little. The Bilstein shocks have the mounts offset which puts the shock closer to the trailing arm. In your case it looks like you'll have to move the cooler.

2.25 would use different spring perches right?

I'll make it work fine by moving it...

let me find a picture here. i run 2.5" springs on bilsteins. rubs, but just enough to make cooler ugly.

edit. can't find a in focus picture. my lower mount looks different. i have 1/2" rod ends with a RE adaptar. my cooler may have been bent out of the way slight. a shop did the install back in 2003.

Looks like you're running the wrong stuff. Never had an issue clearing with 2.25 on Escort Cups.
