Default Air Filter Recommendation

I have a LR MAF on my 951 and a cold air intake with increased ventilation through the fender. I have tried a K&N air filter and another one provided by Lindsey Racing. The LR unit jams the headlight slightly. The K&N is smaller but not have as much surface area as the unit provided by LR. After check the K&N site, their next biggest filter will also jam the headlight. There is plenty of extra room in the cold air intake box, if I can find something with the proper dimensions.

Can anyone recommend another air filter manufacturer with a greater assortment of sizes?

There are numerous K&N filters that will work just fine. AEM also makes some good stuff. The surface area of the K&N that you alrewady have is plenty, BTW.

I have pretty much gone through the K&N product line. The K&N that I have is the largest one they make that will fit. I have two other K&N units that are different shapes that are just a tad too big.

In one of my many conversations with LR they recommended that I get something larger. They recommended going back to their unit. However, the MAF head is held firmly in place by the custom cold air intake system. When the headlight moves it thrashes the LR filter.

The smaller K&N unit solves the problem but I agree with Lindsey's comments about it being on the small side. The K&N unit also tends to whistle at WOT.

There is plenty of extra room in the system if I can get a filter with a slight offset. The dimensions of the K&N filter would be about right if the it were about an inch longer. Unfortunately, they don't make one with the dimensions I am looking for.

I will see what AEM has to offer. Thanks

with all the money you've spent on this car, why don't you just buy the LR metal coolant tank, and be done with it.

I went with an Amsoil filter, they make similar sizes to the K&N line...I just prefer not having an oiled filter next to a MAF sensor.

Thanks for all the input. We have already relocated the coolant tank. We have also tried the smaller LR unit. The issue has less to do with space and more to do with angle. Some companies build filters with slight angle offsets. This is what I need and K&N doesn't make what I need (actually very close, but not quite). The cold air intake solved one problem but created another.

I also like the idea of a dry filter to protect the MAF sensor. I will follow-up on some of the leads in this discussion.

Has anyone heard of green filter USA? Any input?

I knew what ya meant. I was saying yes. It may not be the best solution, but I think it could be done effectively.

Thanks for the advice on the air filters. AFE had the exact size I needed.

The reservoir was relocated when the did the MAF trap and intake system. This was done when the car was being painted and the stock fenders were replaced with carbon fiber. I am assuming they did what they did because of the tank move and/or to fit the fendors. Apparently, getting the fendors to fit correctly was a bit of work. They had to do lots of cutting, smooting and fitting.

The car actually looks much nicer than the avatar.
