You can always have a copper gasket made. Relatively cheap.

How can you guys see anything in those pics? Pretty fuzzy stuff.

Sid, I think next time when you get it up and running it would be best to spend the extra $120 for an hour on the dyno and turn the boost up for each run. Actually prove how effective each lb of pressure is. Then back off when you get to say 8-10hp/lb or less.

O-ring the heads! Or is this not done with these motors? Your pictures are a bit fuzzy for me - I can't really see much of anything. Are you just doing studs, decking and putting it back together?

37psi? Damn!

Agreed Bruce,

For now I am having some fun with the other engine in there. I just finished changing my boost controller around a bit and tuning it in to ~ 23 psi and it feels darn good for where it's at.

I am going to do the turbo head and the other hotside sometime this week. I want to do one at a time, but I just can't see going wrong with the smaller hotside. Once I get done getting the spool to ~ 3000 rpm (1bar) I am done fooling with this car.

I am not going over 23 psi no matter what with this engine.

Not completely sure yet. This is going to be the interim engine in the '83.

I should have the big valve head done at least, so it should not have to be ran at those pressures anyway.

Yea the camera is a PAS or POS however you want to look at it

When I had my older digital camera, in order to take close up pics. I had to take it from far away and zoom in. That seemed to help.

When special whey ran 35psi and did the famous old faithfull video and his head lifted releasing a geiser of steam his head gasket was intact, he did several test with block filler, still had problems with head lifting. Your Sid surely does look like pre ignition, listen to Mr. Wayne.

If you look closely at the first 2 photos you can see that the edge of the sealing ring is still shiny. I just don't believe this is, there is no burning at all.

If you also look at the other photos you can see that it is starting to bow the composite material and let the gasket move outward
Agree to disagree. Looks like you have problem you need to address. Look for the root cause.

Hehehehe.....is this like the Seinfeld episode where they bet how long they can hold out from a bit of self love?? How long before you bust Sid? hahaha
If it was pre-ignition or pinging, wouldn't you hear it audibly? Are you able to measure knock Sid? I realise that pinging and knock aren't the same, but one is often followed by the other. What did the pistons look like also?

My 2.5l is filled with engine concrete (not entirely) and a Cometic Phuzion gasket with gas filled rings is clamped down by Raceware headstuds at 120 nm.
Haven't boosted that much yet but I'm hoping this setup should seal up good
