ROFL. I ended up buying an '87! The 86 is going up for sale, hopefully for someone to turn into a track car. Cosmetically it needs work, but it's got suspension that's ready to go. My new 87 has black and champagne interior.

If you'd like some higher res pics of the interior, send me your email address via PM.

I think the linen on top of black carpet would look great.

lol Yeah some of the pics I tried to send him, of your car, were too big for RL.
That has been happening a lot lately. Me thinks Intertard Brands has shrunken the limit!

I sent you a PM, Greg. Thank you!

So '87 was available with several two-toned interior combinations? Were those pictures of your '87?

Well, back in '87, the 944 turbo was given the same standing as the other high end porsches. You could order just about anything, if you were willing to pay the money.

Before I had my way with my car, everything was black inside except the front & rear seats.

I do think it was/is a fairly standard option to get 'deviating' carpet in Porsches, meaning carpet that's not the same color as the seats.

My WU samples arrived yesterday. In the Feintuft line, 5017 (champignon) seems to be the closest match.

Which is better material - Feintuft or Sliverknit? Was Sliverknit an option in the 924? From what WU is telling me, Feintuft is the better material of the two, but Feintuft can't be heat molded.

That makes sense "champignon" is a mushroom and is closer to Grey Beige than Champagne which is more more tan color. Your interior photos look exactly like my silver car which is grey beige. The beige carpet fades very badly from sun or chemical cleaning. I'm looking for a better hatch carpet and having the same problem as you.

feintuft is very nice carpet. You're not going to get slivernit without having the carpets custom cut and made. Stick w/ the feintuft.

I just can't decide on a color. I asked my buddy and he says "black". His GF says "I don't know - they would both look good". My GF says stick with the light color. I'm hoping the new carpet is more resistant to fade than the original. I think I like the original color, but I hate that it always looks dirty to me.

I need to call AppBiz too and see what materials and prices they have for the 944/951. I think they were the ones working on a rear-seat delete too.

Mr. Budd offers a black carpet set too, but from what I understand, no backing at all. I think the only one to offer padding/backer boards is WU. It seems WU is the standard that others are measured.

If you get a chance, how about taking pics of the samples. I'd like to see how they look. It will end up helping a whole lot of guys. This is a common color.

Overall, I'd say the 5017 is most to my taste, but choose what you think looks best, not your friend's choice or his gf's choice, maybe your gf's choice, but only if she is a keeper...

WOW, new dash and seats are quite different. I would get the 5017 as well. WU also has exact dye matches for your console and other parts to match your dash. I bet if you boutgh new linen seat covers, you could sell your current seat covers for a decent chunk of what you will pay for new. Then everything will match up.

Seats aren't original, and they may look so much darker because of the way the light was hitting them when I took the pictures. They are about a shade darker than the rest of the interior, but so are the armrests on the door.

Today I'm leaning toward black carpet. When I went out to the car today, I was completely aggravated on how dirty the carpet looks, and I just vacuumed it yesterday. I wish someone made carpeted floor liners for these cars.

FWIW, I was totally disappointed in the Lloyd's Premium Heavyweight floor mats. So much so that I sent them back. Maybe I ordered the wrong ones, but the Heavyweight mats looked and felt cheap, IMO.
