We can assume that by merely installing a larger TB without other supporting mods (larger i/c & pipes, modified inlet, modified head, bigger turbo, more boost etc) that we are not going to make any significant gains?

Yes, that is correct.
But if you do everything at once....well - be carefull what you wish for.

Well if you do it all at once AND have the ability to tune with a standalone, then it should allow us to get more hp at the same boost level should it not? Plus increase the potential spread of power, but if EVERYTHING is bigger is there a chance of shifting our peak power to the right?

it would make sense to me that if everything along the path of air was made larger you could get more HP from boost because there would be more volume to fill and thereby more air, obviously that only works until the air gets inside the intake which is the same size but if there is less backpressure in the piping, turbo outlet, intercooler, and a less restrictive TB it should help a bit

I think unless you improve the VE of all the components, then you are going to create a bottleneck which could prove counter productive?
