Although with a GT2 you can still it's an all Porsche drivetrain.

So are you saying $15-$20k for a full custom sequential Mendola that will handle 700lb/tq?

starts at 23k it seems, for a mendola that will handle it. still only 5 speeds though.
I see they have chevy or vw bolt patterns, which would suggest it fits
but.. GT2 tranny, manual gearing is 6-10k still, so cheaper. and you get 6 then.

Putting class rules aside, I saw a 951 that had an entire Corvette C5 rear suspension/transmission somewhere...
I always thought it was a great idea to swap in a 928 S4 transmission in... but then you have a lot of fabbing to do, and only 5 gears...
I dont like the cable driven shift linkages, I think you can shift faster with a rod driven setup.

I agree that the GT2 is the most economic choice. I don't mind not having sequential either. It is built to handle some pretty serious power. Geared for over 200mph too.
The whole 'Vette thing does look pretty good but that would be tricky and costly too, but you'd get the complete rear end which would be very nice.

the "corvette" transaxle.. isnt really a transaxle, it's a regular T56, with a diff mounted to the output, if we are going to be harsh about it.
and the vette has diff, after tranny, so also wrong. GT2 really is a good option. and for 1/4, yes, hopefully someone will brake the damn 12 seconds curse, the miatas are pwning us at 1/4!
I don't think 6-10k USD for a tranny that withstands 5-700+++hp is bad at all
dumping clutch with 345 hoooosiers.. yes please!
btw, redid my suspenion, mounted new LSD tranny.. DAMN man 59cm of cup tires gripping is fun, passing 911s on inside all day
