well, yes and no.
the problem was MAF to chip incompatibility, since we put his car back to AFM with regular MaxHp chips it runs just fine

I have been running LR MAF stage 2 for 2 years this month and had NO problems in that area, but haven't tried any of these chips spoken about here. Im running a set of full race chips from SUPERCHIPS. When I did the set up I also at that time did the mafterburner, turbo, injectors ....etc toooo many otherthings to list. I will also go in on sayin get a piggyback set up and be done with it it's very simple to get a decent tune in for "normal" driving.

I've built a MAF chip for the lindsey stage 1 & 2 MAF. I started with a popular AFM chip for the k26/6, changed the shape of the transfer function mapping voltage to flow to match the sensor as best I could. I also flattened the temp compensation table, adjusted the part throttle map to assist the transition from idle to part throttle, and also programmed the FQS table to allow for the injector sizes that I wanted. You can see the results here if of interest.my results
You can see that I still had to resort to a piggyback to address the top end working within the constraints of how the chip describes the shape of this transfer function curve. Also used the piggyback to further fine tune my idle, but without it I had an OK idle and nice part throttle. I left plenty of headroom to allow for big horsepower.
From this experience I would say that without going beyond modification of DME tables or adding silicon such as what Vitesse have done, you need a piggyback for a MAF setup to get a proper tune.
