Default My K26/6 dyno chart

My car made 263whp and 264 ft-lbs on the first pull. Not bad for 110k miles! Im very happy with the numbers. I had the boost controller set to 14psi as i wanted to play it safe. I was about 60 miles from home and it was pretty damn hot out so i didnt want to take any chances. Also the fact it was my first time really running the car hard with the new Vitesse MAF setup. All pulls were done in 4th gear. The deal we had was for 4 pulls but i decided to only do 3 considering the #'s were dropping off a bit from heat soak.

My mods are as follows..

-K26/6 @ 14psi. This turbo had 3 slightly bent compressor blades and from what some have said, does not appear to be a stock K26 center section. I have no info on the turbo other than it was rebuilt about 10k miles previously and upgraded to 'Turbo S spec' as per the invoice. It still has the #6 hotside though. So if anything its probably a K26/6 'cheater' turbo.
-Vitesse MAF (installed this about 150 miles before the dyno run)
-Siemens 72# injectors (leaves me plenty of room to grow)
-Full 3'' SFR exhaust, no cat
-Tial 38mm wastegate dumping to atmosphere
-Lindsey Racing Stage 1 o-ringed cylinder head
-Lindsey Racing black **** boost controller
-Evo Motorsport bypass valve

The AFRs are pretty much perfect across the board. When i was still running the APE stuff i was getting around 10.5 in the midrange and dithering from high 12's to low 13's at redline when reading off my wideband. Now i am getting around 11.7-12 all the way to redline.

I figure if i had been running 15psi i probably would have made 270whp, but i didnt want to end up blowing up the car so far away from home. Im not to concerned with peak numbers anyhow. Reliability and spool up are my main goals. So figure 15% drivetrain loss i am making around 300hp/tq at the flywheel. So figure an extra 3lbs of boost plus all the other crap i did to the car was worth about 80bhp/60ft-lbs over stock.

and a very crappy video of the best dyno run..

Dillon, i used amber colored headlight film.

John, the cylinder head is the basic Stage 1 setup from Lindsey, i think its just a competition valve job and rebuild.

Hmmm...our mod differences are your head, MAF choice, and injector size (not taking into account the turbo) and I'm running 16psi. I've had a few listers tell me I'm probably in the 250whp range, so this makes me think I'm a little higher.

Thanks Jon, the vid was great.

nice! I wish I had known, I would have caravan'd down in the VOLVO to take it for a run on the dyno haha.

You gotta let me know if you are ever up in the Bridgeport area CT. My fridge always has beer in it.

Yea, it was very nice to see actual results with all the money i just dumped into this thing. Im very happy with the tune out of the box from Vitesse.. i dont even really see a reason to go with the piggyback even. The only downside is the turbo is blowing a little oil at full boost, but nothing i am too worried about. I have a K27/6 i was going to put in, but i am thinking now i may sell it and save up for something from the new school instead. I really dont care much about peak numbers, spool up and reliability is all i care about really. I dont plan to really ever run more than 15psi on my current setup. 260whp is more than enough for me to handle on the track, considering i came from a 127whp n/a 944 prior to this!

The only unfortunate thing really was no hookup available to data log the boost the car was making either. Im actually not sure if my K26 holds 14-15psi to redline as ive never really looked a the boost gauge at those points. Usually i just do a quick glance around 4k RPM to make sure its at the right level, and the rest of the RPM's in the gear im focusing on keeping the car inbetween the lines and glancing at the AFR's! Ill have to check that out some night.

The one thing i was wondering is most 951 dyno charts i see have the torque higher than the horse power by a fair amount. Any particular reason my car made similar numbers? Maybe i just wasnt running enough boost? I am still learning this turbo business.

Based on what ive read in old posts, it seems the HP limit of the K26/6 is around 280-300whp with the right boost levels and supporting mods. So im guessing if i were to turn the boost up, HP would go up slightly (before it peaks), torque would jump up quiet a bit and my EGT's would go through the roof .

on s well sorted 26 with DP wastegate, MBC, venturi bypassed, maf, support mine held 15psi to redline.

Very healthy numbers from a K26, enjoy it. Make sure to post a chart when you upgrade the turbo.

Here is a much better video of my dyno runs. A big thanks to Mike F. (from the 928 side of the forums) for recording it for me. Yea its pretty retarded how loud it is.
