Default do it yourself steering column gauge mount

for the metal strip, i used one of those expansion slot covers on the back of most computers (they cover the unused expansion slots).

for the metal ring, i used a section of exhaust pipe.

the two pieces were joined together via brazing.

the steering wheel does not need to be removed to perform this work. this design also works on steering wheels with air bag.

many thanks to 2bridges (on rennlist) for initial ideas and advice.

checking fitment;

brazing;

waiting for it to cool;

painting with flat black;

final result;

Nice work Nize. I was working on something similar but couldnt figure out how to get it to work with an airbag wheel. I ended up fabricating a mount that replaced the right most center vent.

hah, i put it on the left side because i also have the a-pillar double gauge mount, so it's easier for me to glance over to the left side and read all the gauges.

Your's is alot simpler than mine. I attached mine to the turn signal/wiper switch. I just got this finished Thursday. Used a piece of 2" exhaust pipe from Advance. I also converted from an airbag wheel and getting the horn to make contact w/the Momo wheel adapter while spacing the gauge was a major PIA!!
Wish I had seen your's 1st. Nice work!!
