FS: 1987 951 Heavily Modified
#16
pretty decent car
a semi-project car(extra engine/parts) .....
missing a couple things (LSD, recent clutch, etc) to make it a reliable performer
but with a mountain of goodies and decent safety gear!
Only downside to mods I see is spring rates would beat you near to death in my state. Truly almost underivable, and definitely un-enjoyable here....... but that is any easy fix and fairly cheap also.
For the right buyer this could be an ideal car. Good luck with sale

I'll have to take an exception to the springs.
My current car has fully valved Escort Cups with 600 fr and 550 rear springs.
Though there are snow caused potholes where you live, in Florida, they just don't fix roads.
My set up is ABSOLUTELY no problem on the road. NONE! It sounds much more harsh than it actually is.

hey ehall, I have only spent a little time in FL, however my recollection is roads were very good.
I suspect you would be stunned how chopped up the even the major highways, and interstates are here. Freeze/Thaw and heavy truck traffic combine to make Every few feet is a high or low point, and transitions to overpasses are sharply abrupt.
Speaking from my experience (not a guess or assumption).
Rode in a 450lb escort setup w tarett sways. It almost make you carsick it is so unpleasant.
Took a short ride in a 600lb (moton i think) race setup, forget about it, beat you so bad you need therapy. To be fair both cars were on 18s, and that adds to the harsh factor.
I prefer a very firm, heavily valved shock ride quality. Still both of those were so jarring it was not realistic to think of spending much time on the street in them.

Well, we're probably in the wrong thread for this topic, that siad, our conversation is a testament to the fact that we are all so vastly different.
That's what makes America so great...ain't it?!
Much like a Driver or a Putter, your suspension has to fit your feel and your ear. The rest, on a street car, is too often academic.

BTW Jake, if that's a pic of you, you should find a new one. It doesn't create confidence in a potential buyer...who ACTUALLY has the cash to buy the car.

Lart, i paid $1100 to ship the car. Open truck & a non-running car fee.
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
No i did not buy the E30 in the FS thread, i Bought a 99 E36.
It would be nice to find a new owner for the car, but i like the idea of opening the garage & looking @ two black German cars side by side.
So we'll see.

Now your thinking clearly! You will now have the reliability and daily convenience of the E36 (great cars btw), leaving you with plenty of time to take care of any issues on the 951. Then you will have two awesome toys, its a win-win situation.
