Default Need a Idle Adjuster Screw..

Car started to idle like crap, look in the engine bay and what do you know.. the idle adjuster screw just isn't there...

Can I just get one from a hardware store or does it need to be special?

please and thank you

Hey Ian,

I had an issue with mine backing out too and I replaced it with one from Paragon.

As far as I know you can't get them at a regular hardware store. They have a little rubber o-ring that prevents them from backing out.

It also keeps unfiltered and unmetered air from entering the engine when there's manifold vacuum. And, of course, keeps metered air from escaping when the manifold in under pressure.

For the time being put some racers or duct tape over the hole and tape it around the sides so it doesn't get sucked in. That will buy you some time until your screw comes in. The screw is special in that it has an embedded o-ring, so you won't find it at your local Home Depot.

^ yeah thats what I did, my brother has to use the car to drive back and forth from the airport and what not. I am going to see if any local listers have one.. if not I will order from paragon. 4$ isn't exactly going to break the bank.

That was a timely post, lost mine this weekend at the track. Put bolt in there and it worked fine. Will order from Paragon after seeing this.

VW dealers can get these also. Same part but under a different VW number. Install with some locktite and it shouldn't happen again.
