That would put a strain on the muscles in my right foot....too much restraint.

Long term lower rpm opperation will add up to more sludge and carbon build up. These things like to be run hard every now and then. In stock form you can run them to 6k as much as you want and it will last 100k - if you maintain it correctly!

I find that I usually shift around 4k-4.5k most of the time. When I am really cranking on the car, I still probably shift at 5,500 or so, because thats were I start to trail back down from 16psi. In town I am obviously not spooling up the turbo, but if I did need to accelerate quickly, I would be able to without lugging the engine, or wasting costly seconds on a downshift.

This is almost a little silly.
Just drive it anyway you want.
Common sense would be to understand that any extreme is not good.
Constantly dickering around at low RPM and no boost is not good; and constantly going full throttle to high RPMs is also not as good; just the same as a non-turbo car.

I just shift at redline. This makes things easier as most of the time I dont have to use more than 2 gears.

On my bike i rarely have to go out 1st gear...

I like your catamaran smokintr6!

Is that a Nacra 5.7?

I have a Hobie 18 that I love to freak the smaller Nacra's out with. hehe. The bigger ones are pretty fast though.

Thanks PJ, .. it is a 5.7. I have never sailed on or around a hobie 18, but I have sailed a 16, and there's no comparison to the Nacra. I'm sure the 18 is leagues ahead of the 16 as well though. Is it just me, or are not too many people sailing cats anymore?
