Default 951>>> High Bar Reading!

my 951 shows 1 bar all the time now, on start up, 1st - 5th gears
what could be wrong?
I know I need a new BOV because mine is the stock one and it has 178,000. It blows out the pressure at very little boost

Not sure what is wrong!
thanks in advance

A good way to test the recirc valve is to suck on the top nipple. If you can suck air thru, then it's bad.

The stock boost gauge is crap. Get something decent like a VDO or Defi Dgauge mechanical (discontinued but the best gauge on the market).

Check for vacuum leaks like loose intercooler pipes or vacuum hoses.

1 bar on the stock boost gauge is atmospheric pressure 0 psi , just to let you know.

The clear (yellow in the picture) plastic line (pointed towards the firewall) in between the #3 and #4 intake runners is how the KLR senses boost pressure. I'd start by following it (or replacing it) to see if it's broken or disconnected.

Probably a faulty gauge - AFAIK it's an electrical gauge driven by the KLR. Mine sometimes shows 1 bar on start up & can take 10-15 secs to start working. I put that down to deteriorating wiring in the instrument panel.

Hook up a mechanical boost gauge to the inlet manifold at idle & you'll soon be able to find out.

It runs down to the KLR and connects via a small banjo.

Yes, if you cut it and taped it together, then I am sure it is leaking, and your boost gauge will read wrong. For the record, that line just comes undone with the twist of the little black compression fitting on the KLR itself.

Yes but the original 20+ year old line is probably yellow and brittle. If it were my car, I'd replace the whole line. Either way I hope this fixes your problem!

I just bought a nice porsche style VDO boost gauge from ebay for my project

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160251336435

I like the porsche stock needle style.

it will fit nice in with this oil temp gauge
