Default balance shaft belt...

...dumb question of the day.

I installed the balance shaft belt with the marks for each balance shaft gear lined up with each other. However, the engine was slightly off top dead center. After installing the timing belt and tensioning it, I turned the crank slightly to tighten the balance belt while installing the belt. Is this a problem? Does the engine have to be at TDC with the balance shaft marks lined up? The car seems to idles smoothly.

Thanks.

The engine needs to be at TDC to set the balance shaft timing. If it was my car, I would probably fix it.
