Its ugly but its fast.........We built this GTI with 1.8t motor a couple of years ago.It is a gutted drag car running a big turbo and we take it down to the local 1/8th mile drags just about every weeked.Well this weekend there was a 997tt that was heavily modified and the owner was claiming it makes in excess of 600WHP.I dont know if that was true but he rolled up with slicks on all four corners and was running consistent 7.7's in the 1/8th which is pretty dang quick. So we lined him up against the GTI......There were a few other cars the GTI beat including a 600+WHP D1 Skyline.Its in the video.LOL!

There is about $5k invested in the car including the car itself! Super, duper low budget. It is the ugliest car at the track and it is one of the fastest. LOL. It is so funny watching peoples expressions when they get beat by it. The owner of the Skyline was mad as hell! The Porsche owner just shook his head in disbelief. LOL. I was laughing so hard my sides still hurts. It was a fun night. I know I would be pretty pissed if I got beat by the tuna-can-on-wheels.

 

Okay, that was great, if I take you a gti you can do the same for me? I am not bsing. I don't care if it's ugly , I actually I have owned about 6 or 7 vw's including a gti. I love sleepeers and that Bye bye cabron at the end of the 2nd race againts the skyline was awesome.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Watching the video and it looks like the 997 driver needs to take some lessons on how to launch his car. Driver ability makes a huge difference. At a local track an experienced drag racer in an old Omni Shelby Turbo took on a rookie in a new Viper. The Omni was mostly stock.

Thanks Tim. That was the best drag video I've seen in years. The flames at pre-launch are just priceless. So what kind of drivetrain beef do you add? Where is this 1/8 miles strip? I grew up in La Mesa, way back when, and the only dragstrip was in Ramona.
