I'm sorry if there is already a thread about this - I did a search but I didn't find what I was looking for. That being said, if there is a topic please just link me! Thanks.
I'm looking for information on the type of fluid that should be used for the Turbo S LSD transmission, and if possible a DYI on how to change it out. Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has already been posted about.

Probably the 3 most-recommended that I've heard are Swepco, Mobil 1, and Redline.
Replacement is easy assuming you have the right bit.
Elevate the car. The drain and fill plugs are located on the driver's side of the trans case.
Using a 17mm hex bit, remove the fill plug. Assuming it comes out, remove the drain plug and drain the fluid. Be sure to clean out the plug's recess so the bit fits deep and square.
Once drained, install the drain plug and fill to within a couple mm of the fill opening. Getting fluid in can be difficult because you can't raise the bottle above the case to let gravity work. Either get a small, cheap hand pump or squirt the fluid from a bottle. You'll need ~3/4 gallon
BTW. Gear oil is smelly. Swepco (what I use) smells like rotted dead fish.
If you haven't already done so, bookmark www.clarks-garage.com, then look under 'Garage Shop Manual'.
Lots of useful repair info (including a trans fluid replacement procedure with more detail that I've provided above).
Good luck,
Jerome

remember you must choose an oil that is specifically designed for use in an LSD trans - or you can add a friction modifier to oil not meant for use in an LSD trans
If using Mobil 1, you need to use the expensive stuff, Mobil Lube, not the Mobil 1 you find at your local auto parts store

If using Redline, I would use 1 quart of lightweight shockproof along with 1 quart of 75W-90, and add some of their friction modier

i called up www.paragon-products.com and talked to Chuck. He recommended Swepco for the LSD trans i just installed in my car. Best thing i did was drain the old fluid- in the car- and bought a $5 hand pump w/ a hose that just screws into the top of the Swepco bottle at autozone. Then i just pumped the new fluid from the gallon bottle into the top hole on the side of the trans until the fluid started coming out the hole and shes full. Swepco is super sticky and thick- the trans is quieter and shifts smoother now than ever. I used to love the Redline stuff but i like this better and according to the manufacturer its safe for the clutches in the LSD trans.

Dan, is that the Swepco 201 like the 911 guys use in 915 gear boxes, or is it a different formulation? I need to change my gear oil as well, but I have not been able to decide what the best solution is.

It is swpeco 201 like the 911's, and it is blue, I have it in the turbo transmission (non-LSD) in my 944S and it made a huge difference. Smoother, quieter, no hard shifting right after starup either.
