The sti or wrx was definitely not stock, his 4th gear pulling power was steady and strong, and his 5th gear was even stonger. I wonder what his top speed is, if I was at 140 and he was still pulling on me. Reno

Yea Seriously..... Were you out Sunday driving again? You are not going to smoke any WRX driving like you were at 7 lakes drive last year.
With chips and a K26/8 I am pretty even with a stock STI to 70, and then after 100 I start adding bus lengths.
But to be honest with you, they build boost a lot faster than we do. Next time you try to line up with one, make sure to brake boost.

My friends '04 WRX with stock turbo, 2.5L STi block and 2.0L WRX heads, FMIC, full 3'' with downpipe, Accessport tune and longer gears (his 2nd gear goes to 70+mph) walked away slowly from my '88 with a K26/6 at 15psi, APE Stage II chips and full 3'' exhaust from a quick 3rd gear pull. I think we were both expecting him to pull away alot faster.
His car is now equipped with a FP Green turbo and i think he is tuned for 22psi on pump gas. His car is seriously fast now and i have personally witnessed first hand him destroying a new Audi RS4 from a stop (with snow tires on) and also keeping pace with a 997 Turbo (the 997 was starting to pull away very slowly once the WRX was in 4th) from 40ish mph up to about halfway in 4th gear. The longer gears are really what do most people in..i dont think they are expecting him to be able to hit 70+mph in 2nd and around 115mph in 3rd.
Respect should definetley be given to the Subaru's. When done right they can make some big power and do it very reliably. That goes for any car really i guess. And the fact i have seen his car plowing uphill through 3-4 inches of fresh powder (with snow tires of course) is what really amazes me.

I drove a friends STI from Savannah to Atlanta. Fantastic car. I was very impressed by the performance and this was a stock setup. Interior is pretty chincy and the general steel construction of the car feels less heavy duty than a 44. Suspension and handling and spool-up were great! The car is not that flashy but that can be a good thing
