Default Best Muffler

I thought I saw a thread about which mufflers were the best sounding for our cars, but I can't seem to find it using the search tool. Can someone please help or just let me know which muffler(s)/set up(s) sound the best on our cars.

Thanks in advance.

I actually prefer the sound of a B&B or the 3-inch Lindsey Racing catback with a Magnaflow muffler on a 951.

On N/A cars, though, i would definetly say the Borla xr-1. I just don't like how the turbo "silences" it at different points in the RPM range on the 951..

SFR Quiet FLow is what I have and love every minute of it. Very tame, but really opens up with the RPMs. I'm not much for waking up the neighbors in the morning. SFR's fitment is top notch, and as you are in Cali. You will have it fast! Plus you dont have to worry later down the road if you want to add another peice, like a test pipe, as far as fitment goes. LR's fitment leaves a bit to be desired.

I blew the 92 dB sound limit at Laguna Seca (I hit 96 dB) the week before last with my 3" exhaust, Magnaflow straight-through muffler AND my 3" high flow cat in place. I'm now running 3...yes that's right, 3 mufflers (no cat)...all straight-through design (1 Vibrant "Ultra-Quiet" oval resonator, 1 Vibrant 4" round resonator, and Magnaflow "Race Series" round muffler). All three are s/s and high quality. Car is much quieter now, especially at idle and part throttle...but it still howls at full throttle. Fingers crossed that it's not TOO loud to break noise limits.

I just put the B&B system on with the test pipe. I was expecting it to be a little louder than it is, but it definitely provided a more purposeful note. Very classy sounding IMO.

I think the Magnaflow has a little deeper tone than the Borla. Guess it depends on what sound you're after.

I have the Magnaflow and like it, although at WOT all I hear is my wastegate being dumped.

+2 on SFR Quiet flow w/ SFR test pipe and crossover, it is noticable but very tame. I highly reccommend.

Would be interested seeing what the Db is on difference exhaust setups. I really think it is personal preference on sound. I really like mine but it is on the louder side. If I drove my car daily I would get something a little less aggressive sounding.

The Borla XR-1's are the best on the market.
