It sounds like it may be a factor, but there's quite a bit of articulation in the joint.

Ok, I brought up some of the feedback from this thread. Here is the email reply:

Is this a possibility, and what lvl would the axles be
rated at?

So to confirm, are they saying that they can make them to handle 800+tq but would be very strong? Perhaps not alleviating the other potential issues with eg r&p? Then they say that for $1k they could also make the stubs better? How would this help the r&p? This is a difficult issue to deal with as it's a bit of trial and error...unless anyone can post from experience?

They are saying that for $800 they can make axles that are torsional. Or for $1000 they can make very strong ones, but less forgiving.

I have not received a price for the stub axles..

Has anyone looked into getting a stronger R&P set?

The only person I know that has looked into aftermarket R&Ps is DFASTEST. These will set you back some serious cash I suspect. I have the S2 r&p and a motorsport LSD which I believe is stronger but damn I wouldn't like to find out not strong enough. Not at over $3k for the LSD anyway. I wonder if the $800 torsional axles are better or worse than stock?

What do you mean better or worse than stock? Stronger, or easier on the R&P or ?

For that kind of money IMHO it's time to start questioning the gearbox itself.
There are Audi versions that fit, wonder how strong they are compared to our 5 speeds.
They're more or less the same as the 968 6 speed. Some say the 6 speeds are stronger, some say not..

1000$ is too much for the axles only. I can get here a local manufacturers axles for half of that. They make axles for rally cars and also for drag race cars which has over 1000hp.

I suppose Audi A8 diesel six speed 01E transmission is the strongest one. That engine has the most of torque A8 models had.

I don't think you can axels + cv joints for half that Olli?
If I understand correctly that is what's included in these prices.

Just 4 stock joints are around $400

What is the possibility of fitting an Audi gearbox? Is it totally out of the question or is it do-able? When I say do-able, I'm not talking crazy Swedish chainsaw massacre lol, but if that's the only way then say so too.
What do we think are the weakest links in order of breakage on BIG tq motors?

From what I've read, the 968/Audi 6-speed is not any stronger then the 951 trans...
Also, the second quote I recieved was $800 for the torsional axles...

I believe the strongest reasonable option is the 931 trans. But what about a G50 based trans? How much fab work is needed?
