Default Bearing and CV Axle Grease

Are there grades of CV and Wheel Bearing grease? I figured I could use anything that is moly based. Wasn't sure if there was something that would be more appropriate for this car since it will be DE mostly.

Thanks

For track work I'd suggest sticking with a good synthetic grease. Should be able to handle the heat better.
I've been using Redline grease for years and have never had a bearing or CV joint go bad. Maybe I just don't drive hard enough?

Swepco grease - excellent results for all bearings and CV's.

Just ordered some redline grease from summit racing. Shipping was a little ridiculous though. They ship from Georgia so that means I should be able to pack the front wheel bearings monday.

Good choice on the Redline. I've used the lubro moly and Mobil 1 in the past and it seems that after 3 years of use on a turbo car the driver's side CV grease (closest to the tranny) really breaks down. The redline grease after four years still looks pretty good.

OG carries it for when you're back in the DC area (and I usually keep an extra tube on hand as well).

Incidentally, I ordered some lubro-moly yesterday. It was cheap, so that is ok. Well, now I have some extra grease I can use for other stuff that isn't wheel bearings etc...

Just got the package and I have a whole lot of extra grease.

Also, I probably bought too much. I bought two sticks of 14oz. I had the CVs in my living room and I thought 14 wouldn't be enough. This way I'll have some extra I guess if I repack the bearings or do any diassembly. Then I don't have to mix and match etc...

Indeed. I am so stoked about having speed shops around. We are basically in the middle of nowhere here in Gainesville. We have to buy everything through distributors. For example, I've never even tried to go to the parts counter at the porsche dealer here in Gainesville or the one in Ocala. The only advantage would be so I could have the part that same day, and they probably don't even have anything on the shelf anyways.

Crazy, pretty much every Autoparts store around here carries Lubro Moly if you need some in a pinch.

The issue wasn't the lubro moly it was the redline stuff. As indicated by Jerome, if I really wanted it I could go and physically get it from OGRacing in NoVA if I lived there. Here in central florida we have no speed shops. Lots of auto parts stores, but for specialty things or higher-end stuff you would want on a track/race car you end up having to order everything.

The other thing is parts. Like I said, there isn't even a decent parts counter at a dealership. It is hard to anticipate what you are going to need way in advance you know. This includes tools. There aren't any good tool stores here. For hand tools I either have to find a snap-on/mac/etc... truck and pay through the nose or order. I prefer cheaper stuff because I don't make a living with the tools and they are used so infrequently the cheaper ones are fine.... I love it here and wish I could stay, but moving to a larger city will certainly have its advantages.
