Default Need a little info from someone with a scivision MAF

I ordered what I believe is the same MAF sensor that the scivision kit uses, there is just something I want to check before I pay for it / pick it up from autozone.

The bosch part number , is it:

0 280 217 531
0 280 218 019
0 280 218 008
0 281 002 421
0 280 217 123

What is the connection diameter of the MAF?

60mm
70mm
80mm
86mm in/ 84mm out
or 92mm

and the venturi ID:

50mm
62mm
71mm
78mm
82mm

I'm 99% sure I ordered the correct one, would just like to double check with someone that actually has a scivision MAF in front of them. Once I confirm its the right one I'd be happy to let you guys know what car this comes from OEM.

thanks
mike

yes, but I'd rather not pay a few hundred dollars for the MAF when it is commonly available @ $90-125

OK based on searching these boards (and posts by the creator of the whole kit) and the actual scivision instructions themselves the part # ending in 531 is the 640kg/h MAF which is what is used in the scivision MAF kit. It is good to 380hp.

Here is some tech info about it. I have more if anyone is interested

Now I know which one it is

My question exactly, can we just get the converter? Also how are you going to mount it, are you going to make an adapter?

I have an extensive list of suppliers, and can not get any of those MAf Bosch part numbers to cross over to anything avail to me. That almost never happens. Will be in touch with my Bosch sales reps and find out why. This would be very neat should it work. Of course won't make some of the suppliers happy if we have the ability to start doing these swaps ourselves. But maybe it will bring the market pricing down a little.

OK, apparently Bosch uses the HFM5 version 4 in a bunch of cars, just the 531 part number applies to that MAF in that specific housing. All HFM5 version 4 mafs (640kg/h) have the same exact calibration, just different housings (usually just a plastic flange to bolt it to an airbox, so its not perfectly round on the outside) for different OEM applications

A few cars sold in the US use the hfm5 version 4 , such has the volvo v70xc 2.4L turbo. I'm not sure if its a different housing or what, when I go to autozone I will check it out.

I've contacted bosch to ask them what other cars use that version 4 MAF and hopefully something that uses the same housing.

I did find a few wholesale sources in China for the 531 part number MAF but I don't have the money/ability to deal with them

I hope this doesn't **** off any suppliers.. but all of this info is available on the Internet and from the creators of this kit themselves. I just hate paying a ton of money for something that is a common part , not designed specifically for our cars. That is why I'd be happy to pay full price for the signal translator, as that was made specific for our cars and obviously has quite a bit of work in it.

On top of that promax discontinued the MAF kit, so what else can we do

Promax discontinued it, but Russell/Maxtronic is still selling them.

Yes, we know. What we are trying to find out is are the MAFs from other cars using the same Bosch sensor, just in a different housing. If they are then you can get them for ~150 from places like autozone (and they are genuine Bosch units) and then just buy the translation computer.

Also if we find out that they are the same, it may help Russell to reduce his cost on the Scivision and get more customers.
