Default which wastegate (again)

for street 15psi 89S:
LR clubgate (stock rebuilt), LR dual port (how do you know if you're overboost) or Tial 38,41 or something else

i just don't see myself going up to 17,18 etc psi. so no need for overkill

thanks
jf

The Tial 38 with a SFR adaptor and a black **** boost controller is probably the recommended street setup. It is cheaper than the Lindsey unit and some say it is better too. For a street car and mild/stock turbo running 15psi, there is no need for the Tial 46mm.

There have also been users that have modified a factory WG, turning it into dual port. This is the cheapest option.

Regardless which WG you choose, the boost level can be adjusted via the boost controller. ***IMPORTANT*** You MUST ensure that the chips in the vehicle are designed/mapped for the level of boost you run.
If you have not already done so, I would get a set of aftermarket chips for the car. Excellent bang for the buck that can really wake the car up.

Althought other wastegates may be a bit cheaper than the Lindsey DP wastegate after you purchase the adapter you are above the cost of the Lindsey wastegate.

I've currently got the LDPW with black **** MBC and have had no problems at all - it has worked flawlessly. My only niggling concern is that the wastegate I removed had a crack in the cast body along the valley between two cooling fins which meant I didn't get my core charge back and i'm now concerned that there is a potential weakness in the cast bodies. Not sure if this is a common failure?

Seems to me there is alot of threads from people who have just installed Tials that have boost spiking problems. Not sure if this is an installation error or something else, but there seems to be many happy customers out there. If my LRDPW was to fail i'd be looking to a Tial.

I'll be going with the Synapse unit. From my understanding, the clearance issues with the Tial are not there with the Synapse piece. Plus the Synapse unit is diaphram-less, eliminating another potential failure point.

The clearance issue is only with the 86 and is easy worked around. What diaphragm is a fail point in the Tial?

If you guys want a laugh, I installed a Racegate about six years ago and have been running that ever since. I plan of getting something better once this fails but so far it has been perfect.

btw, that's with 23/27 psi boost and way too high EGT.

I have a 46mm tial on my car, its overkill but the PO installed it with big plans in mind. It does the job well but I have considered switching it out for a 38mm tial.
