Talking New MAF and a/f controller installed now

Well, new to me.

Much different than my ARC2 controller. It's actually digital!! LOL

Controller = SAFC2 Neo 16 LO & HI rpm tuning points and a bunch of other bells and whistles.

MAF = 90mm Hitachi MAF, aka Ford Lightning 2001+

Actually I was researching other newer Bosch MAF's and came across the Lightning MAF about 3 months ago.

Only rough tune now, but was close to the Huntley stg 3. Just added some fuel in the low ranges and a lot of fuel (lots more airflow) in the upper ranges.

CRAIGSLIST RULES!!!!

I'll be trying the same MAF. TRYING to go a different route for Fuel adjustment though.
Let us know! Sounds cool.

Excellent! Keep us posted.

You can pick up these MAF's barely used for $50-100 from various sources. Even brand new with some adjustments to the calibrations they are about $250.

$260 total.

MAF - $55 shipped - Craigslist. Used only a few months.

SAFC2 Neo - $205 Shipped. NEVER installed. The Neo is the upgrade from the previous SAFC2.

I could have gone with the SAFC2 and would have been only $125-150.

HERE, listed right now:

I'd be happy to go dollar for dollar against anyone for results.

Dyno = on pump who makes the most, then divided by cost.

$2,000 = 450whp

$260 = 400whp

see my point.

Without the upgrade to the MAF. The true Ford replacement part for the lightnng MAF can be fund for less than $100 on ebay. I paid $75 wholesale from one of my Friends speed shop that works mostly on American Cars. But retail on that part is $189.00 - un-touched or improved. 90mm.

And, I'm still TRYING to get my new set up going. I'll be patient this week. It should be worth it. I'll let everyone know as soon as It happens.

I'll take you up on that but you have to let me use E85. It does come right out of the pump

J/k Is the chip setup for a MAF already??

How about $260 for an inexpensive MAF/tuning setup. AND the joy of learning more about your car and the tuning process...

I'll let you know as soon as it is tuned and ready for dyno.

Compared to my previous set up (Huntley MAF/ARC2) anything was an upgrade.

But the Huntley and ARC2 served its purpose for what I needed at the time.

Yes, bolt on, but the 90mm MAF is a lot bigger to fit in there. Of course, you could always take the sensor off and mount it on a smaller housing. The housing has little to do with the flow capabilities; it is all in the calibration of the sensor itself.

"Cheap MAF"

I let you in on a secret....this is about the most advanced MAF that people in this forum are running. they just don't know it.

A. I have a chip.

B. I have a tuning module.

This quote comes to mind often in this forum:

"one day your gonna wake up and realize you spent a $150,000 on college education you could have got for a $1.50 in late charges at the public library."
