Are the cv joints on an 86 951 the same as on the regular 944? I have one clicking and can't really tell form the catalogs whether or not there is a specific cv joint for the turbo until 1987. Thanks, TT

From what I was told the 86 turbo are different from 87+, being not as stout. I replaced the ones on my 86 from some from turbo s and worked fine.

86 CV joints themselves are the same as 944/944S/924S

offset/length wise they are all the same from 85.5-91. I pulled axels from a 924s/944n/a / a turbo and an s2 cab and could not tell the difference. I measured the shafts in the middle and all were the same. Only difference ive seen was a slight in the way the bearings were casted.

Has anyone ever put in something stronger? How much work would there be in modifying for say 928 cv/axles?
