I am still on the same engine. No firm plans yet, I have not received word from your friends. Current thinking is to fix the stand-alone first. Had some problems on track, and we spend quite some time looking in three systems (DME, Datalogger, Mafterburner) what was wrong. a DTA S60 should fix that nicely, and with the current EUR exchange rate it is a steal.
Thanks Hans although I should be able to use the current pictures as they are.
Yes you guys have it good at the moment with the exchange rate. Our dollar is now about .93c US and yet we pay over double for a Porsche here. Gee, I wonder where all that money could be going???

Anders, I didn't know you were doing a V8 swap. When did you make this decision?

I'm doing the GT30R and vems efi for this 2008 season, and then hopefully v8 for the 2009 season.

the powercurve of the v8, and the bang for the buck. also then my car won't sound like a honda I'm currently in the process of applying for permission to swap engines at the DMV. also recently took the theory for a racing license, practical part is in may.

I really hate loosing ebay actions on ls1 engines by like $50 just because I was asleep.. damn timezones!

Hans,
Running a bit low in the rear? the fender(s) hide some of those wheels.

Is that ok?

315/345 will fit on those rims, but I would be unsure about the F fit. If you have an early offset car, the ET is fine, close to the original, to not ruin the F geometry , but based on my experience I would be unsure if that would fit even a widebody setup

can't wait to meet up at spa sometime in 2009 when its all done do you ever race on nürburgring gp-strecke or nordschleife with your car?
Yes, would be nice. We drive Spa as much as possible, Nürnberg GP we will also do once or twice this year.

The Nordschleife with a racing car, can only be done if it is closed to all other traffic. As an amateur you would need 200+ laps experience. One of the racing series we sometimes participate in (German STT) had a five lap race last year, as part of the 24h endurance. I am not brave enough to participate.

we got thoose fancy cornerweights at our garage yesterday, with all metal panels still, I'm at 1210KG with 1/4-1/2 of fuel, so with everything in fibeglass/carbon and polycarbonate windows I should shave as much as 100 more? but cage etc is quite heavy so perhaps 1150'ish ? time will show. I only had 48% of the weight on rear axle, so need to move more stuff to the rear. drysump, battery, cage etc should all help a lot
My car is currently 1060 kg, with 10l of fuel, including rollbar and stuff.
The only "heavy" parts remaining are the windshield (must be glass to be legal in our racing series) the roof, and the rear floor / rear panel. Balance is 53% / 47% with the almost empty fuel tank. I would worry more about the right corner balance as about the F/R weight distribution. Having said that, my battery is where used to be the R rear seat

Hos, it is a bit low, because the height setup is done with Dunlop Porsche Cup slicks, which are 660 tires. My wets are 645, so that does make a one cm difference. But also with the slicks, the wheels are largely hidden, but the height is perfect.

plan was to run 295 on the 18x11 fronts, with 315 to 345 rear.

I actually have license plates on my car, as the series I will race in here requires it, pretty much only rule in the series is that I have to run michelin pilot sport cup tires, and not have way to much power.. we can even have polycarbonat front shield, but I will keep the glass on front.

I love driving my car on the nordschleife and that's what my suspension/car is setup for, meaning my setup is probably way softer and higher than yours. a worry is tire temp if not hot weather with cup tires, meaning that running regular summer tires on that track might be better on some days.

would be fun to talk "shop" some day, I'll try to get our schedule so I can see which days Im down there.

Default what about that rear bumper cover?

That rear bumper cover is awesome.

I'm guessing it wouldn't fit a standard width 944 though?

Yes, I agree, it does look like it belongs there.
And: It does fit a standard 944. I already had it on my previous (non WB) setup.

hmm for aerodynamics it would be easy with that bumper to implement a funnel I think, looks as the wheelwell is allready gone? hard think would be to do the actual calculations to get it working right and design it right. who has friends who wind tunnel?

A diffuser was the original idea. Alas, this is more complicated then it looks.

We have looked into it, even have a diffuser laying around, but there are a couple of items in the way:

1. The gearbox. Cannot be helped. Cooling can be solved with an aftermarket cooler

2. Exhaust - can be solved with a side exhaust. Not to complicated, but I want to keep my passenger seat, and that means we have to route it behinfd it,

3. Fuel tank - a sloped or slanted fuel cell like the Kokeln one is needed. Expensive like $ 4200. Any custom solution - even more expensive

So if anybody has a solution for the Fuel Cell, I would do it

Check out the diffuser in this post Hans. It's not factory but it's a start. I like the concept but I think we'll have to wait for GUNS to finish his Super951GTS to see a bespoke underbody kit w diffuser. Should be something else!!!
As for fuel cells, there is always http://www.crawfordcomposites.com/ not cheap, but many solutions aren't.

Is this something you're aiming for or is that beyond the limits of the rules you race under?

Beyond the limits of my racing budget....
Especially given other priorities.
