Default Wideband A/F question

I have my WB O2 (innovate installed) at idle and driving w/o boost stays around 14 -15

but under boost drops to 8-9 which seems too rich or is this needed under boost?

BTW running Guru chips at 15 psi.

Thanks
Steve

I kind of fiqured such. I am about to install Tims blow thru MAF, which uses the Split second as a fuel controller. Would I be able to bring the a/f into the 11's?

I plan to upgrade to Russels Maxtronic or his chip set, as he is the only one who will tune this MAF.

Russels chips should fix your problem.

My engine will start to bog under boost once you go richer than 10:1 or so. If you are not bogging, might want to double check those readings.

+1, an engine richer than 10.5 will not run very well.

Thanks for the input, I installed the innovate last week, it reads 14 -15 most of the time, and around 22 on strong decelartion. Is is possible to only give wrong reading on boost? I will call innovate today.

Also when under boost I can definatly smell the ehaust but that may me normal

Thanks
Steve

what kind of recirc/BOV do you have? Mine had a rich spot when i would let off the gas after hard excelleration and the recirc valve had a bad seal. Then i put a BOV on there to try out and it was adjusted too loose and she was going into the 9's under any kind of load or boost. SOunded cool though :P Eventually i just put the recirc valve back on w/ a new seal. It still shows slightly rich but according to my ZT2 logs its just when i let off the gas for a mili second.

Right now I have the stock valve, When I let off on heavy accel, the readings are around 22. It is when under boost the readings stay around 9 until I let of accelerater.

thanks

Sounds like you've got a boost leak to me.

I was dipping under the 10s for a while until I just sat down and examined all possible areas for boost leak (intercooler piping, mainly). Turned out, a hose clamp wasn't event tight.

Now, my AFRs are around 12:1 at full boost. And FWIW, I was at stoich under steady accel and all that jazz, because there wasn't enough pressure to induce a leak out of the boot. Once the turbo kicked in, however, all pressure left through the leak.

Check for leaks.

I am sure I have some boost leaks, as my boost hoses and air box are shot. I guess I will install MAF and see how that does rather then redo all boost hoses and clamps. Any other reasons for running rich other then boost leaks??

Steve
