My brother-n-law paid $16.2k for an 87, mint, LSD, ABS, sport seats, 32k miles, about 3 years ago.

If mine was wrecked, got my full check and was looking for a car...would depend on the mods, who did it, and PPI but if the car at the top was offered for $18k ( mine is insured for $19k) and passed my own inspection; yeah, I'd buy it.

There are folks that will pay a premium for expert modifications. They are the same type of folks that were willing to pay for the work in the first place, or are lucky enough to have the expertise and TIME to do it themselves. I've seen some nice cars with hack job aftermarket parts and installation. This brings value down when a knowledgeable eye is considering cutting a check.

I sold an 89 951 with expert mods done on a 2.5 for $20,000. I missed this car so much that I am doing it again with much greater emphasis on modern engineering. If/when I decide to sell this car, it will only go to someone that appreciates good R & D and wants something that is unique in the marketplace.

There are not many great 951 cars out there. Expecially those that will run with the best on 91 fuel, street legal, and look almost as good as new.

I paid $15k for a clean stock '88 951S with 65k miles about three years ago. So if I was in the market and this one came up and I appreciated these mods and their expense, I might go $18k.
