Default Where is the oil coming from??

So as most of you know Im changing out the timing belt and some oil seals. I am trying to fix a oil leak that my mechanic said was on one of the front seals. Please take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. Also, I see some Red type of sealant... what the hell is that?? lol

The bearing might be binding but take something to pry, gently, on the top and then side - bolts and keyway. You put a dab of silicone on the corners of the oil pan. The Porsche stuff is white, most use black high heat silicone.

The front seal could be leaking...it's oil and not old PS fluid?

looks like there is black high heat silicone holding the dist cover to the metal if thats possible but I guess I can try prying at it....

to me it looks like oil and ps fluid.... smells like oil. Anyone to be 100% sure?

and the red liquid is what again?

pull on the lower side and tap the top side gently w/ a rubber mallet- should slide out they fit very tightly.

That oil pump is definitely leaking, replace the large 0-ring as well as the smaller o-ring (the oil pump has two seals).

To drive it in, get a 2" diameter PVC pipe (short), it works every time like a charm.

Red stuff is just silicon for the oil pan (already mentioned above).

PS: Do you're self a favor and replace all the front engine seals & water pump if you can.

OK.. got the housing off but I only see 2 oil seals... The black round one and the red/maroon looking one. In my packets I have a little plastic ring that clarks garage talks about but I have no clue where to put it. Took everything apart to try and find it and I have no clue where it goes.. Anyone with a pic of where it need to go?

If you are reffering to the thing that looks like a thin clear washer made of plastic there should be three of those IIRC, they go behind the cam and balance shaft collars. When you pull the cam seal, then pull the woodruff key out of the shaft and that collar over the chaft will slide off (not easy). This little clear washer goes right behind it and when you pull the old collar off, the washer can stick to the back of the collar and come off with it.

So if you have pulled the collars already look in there and see if the clear plastic ring is still on the shaft and if not, check the collar and see if it is still stuck to the back of it with oil. You must replace these or it will weep out of the new seal slowly but surely

That the one. Dont forget the balance shafts, and also that you should replace those collars when they get a grove in them where the seal lip is otherwise the oil will slip by when you put a new seal on.
