I got it mounted. i chose to do the route that looks like it was done in Sam's post. The splitter mounts to the bumper with clips and screws, but in order to remove it, I'll have to remove the bumper. I find it better this way as there aren't any holes in the underneathe side and it's a clean look.

My bumper was way bent and I had to persuade the bumper to fit the splitter. It's pretty solid and I even put it on the car to get a pre-view. Taking it to the body shop sometime this week to get a fresh coat of guards red laid down, then I'll tape it off and spray the back black to clean it up. Can't wait!

And man, this thing is LOW. Like, lower then I would have thought. I'm not so sure I want to lower the car anymore...

Do yoursel;f a favor and buy red spray paint as well as some fiberglass DIY crap. Skip the pro paint job. You'll thank me later...I guaranty that.

ehall- I'm going to make the stupid move and go with the pro paint, as I really don't drive my car all that much. It also doesn't see very rough roads.

Plus, the girlfriends dad owns a body shop!

Yea, I'm thinking he's going to hook me up. Then again, I may be wrong...

I'm sure he doesn't like knowing that I'm gettin' "sweet" with his daughter...

Does the krylon even match all that well? I ask because the front half of my car has been resprayed and I'd really hate to have 3 different reds on my car.

ROFL Don't worry about it. It will match better than the scraped up white color that it will be after the third mile...IF you don't rip it off by then! Don't ask how I know.

O I remember your troubles alright lol.

My car is at stock height and it's already damn low. The very front of the splitter measures just 3.75" off the ground. I'm not so sure I should lower the car, anymore. That'd have me at about 2.75-3" and thats freakishly low.

So I bought a splitter off ebay on the cheap and it arrived today. First thing I notice was it's not an AIR piece, it's a copy off their piece. Reason I can tell is it has indentions where the piece they copied was drilled for mounting. So someone is making copies of AIR's splitter and turning a profit obviously, but thats neither here nor there.
Why you think it is originally A.I.R spliiter???

They just copied original german Gemballa item just like so many other compaines have done. Gemballa molds are now at Strosek, where this splitter can still be ordered. I know several other companies who fabricates this same item. So i think there is nothing wrong if somebody copy "AIR" splitter, because they are NOT the company who originally made these.

Strosek kit. Picture is from german D&W catalog from late 80's:

Here's original Strosek sideskirts and splitter we have made:

You can also take the paint code to a paint store, and they will mix you up a couple cans of guards red in a spray bomb can.

So who's selling these the cheapest for US customers? Can we get "copies" for less than $250?

Cory, post a picture under the car. Curious to see how that curvature looks when mounted.

I saw those for sale also, but was a bit hesitant to buy. I have heard AIR charges an arm and a leg to ship also on top of the $250 cost new. So less than $250 shipped sounds pretty good to me.. .

OT, but Olli that header panel looks identical to the one I just had someone make me up, complete with the irregularities of surface from working with fibreglass. Shame someone couldn't inj. mold some of these to be much more evenly surfaced. How did you attach yours and do you have any pictures of it installed?
thx
back to the program, sorry.

Jon, will get the picture soon. And I got this for $240 shipped. Not a bad deal I think.

One step closer to having the exterior done. Just need springs, mirrors, and handles now!
