Default alternator

This am I installed a new alternator on my 86 turbo. While hooking up the battery, I had a bit of excessive sparking, and the car is now electrically dead. Any help?

Is the battery still charged? How are cables on the + side of the battery terminal, are the wires that go to the fuse box clean and making good contact?

Expect a little spark, but if its noticeably larger, it's due to either you having an electrical item on (stereo + amp, fan, ignition is on... anything that draws power)

or you have a wire thats grounding out (alternator power wire (red wire))

Good luck!

ive seen many times people hook up an alternator and while tightening the postive cable they let it rotate and touch the housing. Then they hook up the battery and it pops the fuse for the system.
