Default Fikse wheels are freakin light!

My new Fikse FM10 wheels arrived today and were waiting outside my garage where UPS left them. Honestly I had no idea these wheels were so freakin light. Honestly, I can't leave these wheels in the garage with the door open as they might blow away!! Now I see why expensive wheels are exactly that, the build quality is phenomenal!

Now I just have to get my tires put on. Anyone know what the widest rear tire I can run on a 944 turbo is without rubbing? There 11" wide in the rear.

275 is about as wide as you can go, you should have gone with 10" wide wheels they would have been even lighter and still more than wide enough for 275s.

You can easily get 295's in the rear on a stock bodied car. If you work at it, you can get 305's with some inner lip rolling.

It depends on the specific tire. With the bridgestones I used on the street there was plenty of room with the 275s, with the Pilot sport cups I ran on the track there was a little rubbing. It also depends on how low your car is. If you use 275s you can be fairly confident they will not rub, but if you really want to can take your chance with larger ones, or just raise your car high enough they won't ever rub.

Agreed. If you run R spec rubber it is always wider than the spec suggests but you can check on the fine Tirerack website. I'd say 295's max on street rubber with a bit of luck. Depending on suspension (spring diameter & movement), lowering, camber, plus if you have the factory pre-rolled inner fenders.
What year is your car and what offsets did you order? The Fikse's enjoy a very good reputation. I'm looking into some myself. Do you mind saying how much you paid and where from? Thanks.

im running 295 pirelli p-zero's - but im also running 525lb rear springs so that could help w/ the rubbing issues as well.

I bought them on the used market thats why I didn't get 10" in the rear. What they were selling is what they had.

Thanks for the input guys I think I'm going to try a 285 rear. I paid a little under $2k with shipping but there only 4 months old.

Dan,
If you have a fit problem with the 11's contact Ryan at Fiske and see what the price of having the inner replace.(the beauty of a 3 piece wheel!) They have fixed many sets of race wheels for me and have 1st class customer service. For the price you paid you will still be way ahead (the seller did not have any more sets for sale did they??)

So did you get the offsets from the PO before you purchased? Hope they fit for you.

Honestly, I'd be less concerned about how wide of a tire I could put on the rear. I'd put my efforts into stuffing the widest tire possible in the front. That's where our cars need the extra rubber.

Unless you can fit a 275 (which is very possible assuming your rim is wide enough) up front there isn't much need to go wider than that in the rear.

If you got 18" Fikses for $2k you got a smoking deal. New 17s are a little more than that. I bought my second set a couple years ago when Fikse had some centers left over from an order where the customer backed out. They wanted to clear inventory by the end of the year so I got the set (to my specs) for $1800 + shipping. My first set was >$2k several years but was also anodized.

Are these the Fikse's that were for sale in AL with 45mm (or 50mm?) offset? If so, you're most likely going to need to swap your rear hubs and rotors to early offset to get them to work - regardless of tire width. At that point you'll need a spacer if you go 295.

Just a heads-up before you buy tires.

I'd disagree with that - ask azbanks - he's got 295s in the back and had to do some serious lip rolling. He still has rubbing issues.

I have 295's, had do some very minor adjustment to fenders with a rubber mallet to prevent it from hitting at full travel

removed swaybar and coilovers, and put a jack under the arm and tested spinning the wheel.

295 is a very very tight fit requiring correct ET

Thanks will do! No the seller didn't have anymore of them for sale.

My car is a 87 Turbo (koni's suspension all the way around) and I checked with some of the guys on rennlist to make sure they would fit. Theres another thread regarding this if you are interested. Honestly guys this just a street car that I have fun with I don't track my turbo all that much. I just want tires that will fit without to much work.

Thanks for the input keep it coming.
