Here is a question for those using the GC hats. Notice the ID of GC hats is a lot larger therefore the hat slides up and down the strut vs. the RE hats that rest on top of the strut shaft with no play. Will the GC hats cause noise and abnormal wear? Seems to me like it would just rattle around. Or do they sit fine once compressed by the spring?

Once compressed by the spring they're sandwiched between the upper plate and the spring so they're pretty solid. The only time you need to pay attention to them, or hear anything from them, is after jacking up both front wheels.
