Default 944T clutch ?.

Hi , how many miles on average should an 88 turbo clutch be good for ?. The reason I ask is a car I am interested in has around 65k on it's second clutch and it's a job I want to avoid. Thanks.

That is a question that is impossible to answer without knowing how the car was driven. Some guys get 150k miles out of a clutch, some guys get 50k.

Sure I understand that, I'd say the car has been enthusiastically but sensibly driven. Just thought I remembered reading somewhere that typically 70k was a ballpark figure.

My car had the original clutch in at 112,xxx . It started slipping bad under boost so I just replaced it with a spec stg 2 about 6 months ago.

In the factory manual there is a pic of how to measure the clutch disc wear. You remove the plug from the inspection hole on the left side of the bellhousing and measure from the end of the clutch fork to the edge of the inspection hole. I don't remember the exact specs, but I think it was 34 mm for new and 18mm for wear limit, but look it up. I was pleased to find that the original 94k mile clutch on my '86 is currently at about 23-24mm, so a bit of life left hopefully.

Right now my car has 120k and its only slipped twice. Mostly my fault. I did have two shops look at it and say I had 6 months left. That was a year ago.
