HMMM was this a good idea??

the 2JZ bellhousing appears to be slightly "shorter" from end to end than the 944's so I'm hoping that this will put the engine in a decent position without needing to modify the torque tube. I will fabricate an adapter plate that will allow the torque tube to bolt to the 2jz bellhousing. I think the tricky part will be obtaining a supra clutch disc with the correct splines for the 944 transmission. I don't know who can do this for me yet.
Another potential difficulty I see is the height of the more "upright" 2jz vs the slanted m44-51...-whatever-its-called. I guess it really comes down to the shape of the oil pan, but my gut feeling is that it won't be easy to place this thing low enough to fit under the stock hood. I will fabricate a custom sheet metal oil pan if need be.
Let me know if you have any advice. This is probably the most difficult project I've undertaken to date.
Best,
Bob

the spline shaft in the spigot bearing in the end of the crankk will dictate the engine position .
I think you will find the 951 clutch plate will happily be driven by the supra fly wheel and pressure plate you may have a 5 to 10 mm tolerance on size but 225 and 240 clutche's are very common . you may just have to get a thicker lining put on the clutch .
also if you make the adapter plate in 2 half's you may be able to fit it to the backside of the square flange in the end of the torque tube

2000+ hp that is sick! Damn Aussies at it again. haha
This is why it still astounds me how far behind our motors are. Yeah sure they have 6 pistons and high flow heads. We can't do anything about the number of pistons but we can have decent 16v heads, big turbos and whatever else yet we're lucky to get a 1/4 of this? I know we can get more, but even if someone got 1000hp it would be chicken feed compared to a similarly sized motor.

A buddy of mine was picked for a Pinks episode and put a 2JZ in a Toyota Cressida. The Mustang they were supposed to race broke on the first race, so they picked another car from the croud to race the Cressida. They ended up winning the first car that broke by the end of the taping and the guy that filled in so they could at least tape the episode got to keep his Mustang even though the Cressida beat it. Was crazy to see the 2JZ in a 4 door car going down the track. I feel Pinks is kinda retarded, but the episode will air this next season for those that watch it. Was filmed at some track in FL if I recall.

This guy seems to have fit a 1jz in his 944. I think he lives in the SF Bay area as well so I'm hoping that I can get him to share some knowledge.

Ollie , Roflmao you crazy finnish bastards , Haaaaa, i still can't believe dat.....
Yeah the fl Pinks deal was retarded , they had requested import cars , but what they really wanted was domestics, as they felt the 911 T was too fast , we turned it down where it would run consistent 11.0's and they still passed on the car as they where arranging the classes for domestics to win....

Good luck. The 2jz is an amazing engine that can take a horrible beating. When this car starts up and you get all of the bugs worked out, you should make and sell kits. I would honestly buy one in a heartbeat.
