Sudden Zeitronix Problem
All of a sudden I have no data/signal showing up on the laptop. Had it for about 2 years now and had worked great.
All connections and wires were checked and re checked and all are connected. The port/comm setting is still at "4" where it has been since I have had it. Software is working fine. Just hit "enter" to start retrieving data and no scrolling lines, etc.
Any idea? Can the unit itself just go bad?

I have heard of lots of people having component failures on the ZT2. I think much of it probably comes out of China. The advantage is that much of it is also cheap to replace. Check thier site for prices. Don't expect much backup service I've found.

But I am not getting ANY readings, be it the rpm, egt, user 1.
Would the O2 cable being bad keep the unit from showing any data?

I had to replace the cable after about 10 hours usage. Absolutely Sweet fkcuk all after sales service from them so I just bought a new one which by the price they charged, show you how cheap the component is. This is no slight on the actual unit itself, just some of the attached hardware and lack of service.

Do you have the LCD display? You need to figure out if the unit went bad or if the connection to the computer went bad. If the LCD is still working, then I'd look at the connection. Are you using a USB to serial adapter and have you re-checked that its drivers are working, etc.?

Yes, I am using the USB-serial adapter and I was wondering if that part was bad but forgot that the adapter runs on a driver. I will check and/or re install the driver.
Thanks for the tip!

Mine just began having a problem as well. I've noticed that if I unplug the o2 sensor connector the rpm's will read correctly again, so I'm hoping that it's a problem with either the sensor cable or sensor itself. I've just sent an e-mail to Zeitronix to see if the can provide me any info on testing these. I'll report back if they reply with anything.

Here is the response I got from Zeitronix:
Most likely there is a damage to the O2 harness.
Remove the O2 harness from the car. Very closely inspect for any signs of mechanical or thermal damage.
Using multimeter with a continuity ring check the O2 sensor harness for shorts and opens.
Here is the pin assignment:
RJ45 O2 Connector
1-2 3
3-4 4
5 5
6 1
7 6
8 2
Pins 1 and 2 are two orange wires. Look at the male connector of the O2
sensor, there are small pin numbers inside the shell.
It was sure nice to get a quick reply on a Saturday. I pulled my 02 harness and did find a heat damaged spot with a bunch of shorts in the cable. I'm going to splice out the bad saction and verify that this is the only problem.
I hope that helps.

I have gotten no response from them to my email.
Anyway, I re installed the driver for my USB/Serial adapter and that didn't help.
I have checked the O2 wire, but it looks ok and solid connection. I have not got ender the car though.
I have no data scroll. It sounds like you still are getting some data inputs?
I took the unit apart and there was a little corrosion on one of the transistors. Cleaned it up and still no change. The harness looks ok, but no readings taken. I will try that next.
