Default LINK Standalone.

Anyone have any experience with LINK ems? Even better if it's G3+. Doesn't have to be on our cars, just any impressions are fine.
thx

You might want to try and contact NZ951... he had a lot of experience with the Link Plus. Which I bought off him, then never used. hah :/

Corleone runs Link. I think he runs G3+ on his latest beast.

Patrick I'm also having a real good look at this to replace my current EMS, its is very feature rich, but one of the limitations is that you cant run peak and hold low impedance injectors, this means having resistors inline which I believe will slow down the injector on/off times. Normally not a big deal unless you are running very large injectors (like you will be), and its only idle quality may be an issue.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has run these with 83lb+ injectors/sequential injection and if idle was ok - cos otherwise it looks a great EMS.

For comparison I have 83lb injectors w/ resistors on my car with the stock DME batch injection. The car idles perfect even when I started it last night in my non-heated garage when it was 5 degrees F outside. I would expect any good EMS, especially with sequential injection, to give a decent idle as well.

thanks Stephen, that was one of the main reasons I was upgrading my current EMS cos I was told that batch fire on 83lb wont idle well and after making a few calulation myself on what I have today = 1.96ms pulse width at idle on 55lb at 3.8bar at 14.7 AFR. So if I go up to 83lb that would make the pulse width close to 1ms.....turn on time for injectors are in that vicinity I think.

What AFR's are you running on idle?

I might give it a go and see after your comments.

regards
mike

I believe Tom M'guinn is running 83lb injectors in batch mode so maybe he will let you know how they work.

I have on many engines. Great system and the G3 version is incrediable. The G3 has had many years of input and development. I can assure you Neil had a big part in its development and final look.

As for the injector drivers, the G3 still drive the Injectors in saturated form, but quire different from how others do this. The software has injector deadtime mapping which I understand gives you the ability to map the opening and closing times based upon the injector choosen. This time differs from one type of Injector to another. Even with P&H injectors, this can change the final A/F number. I'm no expert here, so further questions should be directed to Neil. In my opinion, the G3 has put the Link right amongst the better ECU's out there, right up there with Motec and others of that quality. I think it has put distance between Link and the more commonly known ECU's used at this level.

BTW, I like your avatar Patrick. Looks good.

well thing is with big injectors sometimes batch means once per revolution witch means you struggle to get the pulse narrow enough . but you can aslo run batch as once per cycle (2 revolutions ) .
Also when people are told 4 cylinder they are often still thinking 2 liter engine .
I think your insane using any thing made outside NSW as that gives you EMS wolf AUTRONIC Haltec .
get the car all sorted and drive it to one of these . you are in EFI mecca .
there is no better Efi than one with local manufacture and support in the same time zone as your self .
And me and my green Monster HATE your avatar

Adam good point on batch 360 degree vs batch 720 degree, I currently run batch 720 with my 1.96ms pulse, so I cant get improvements there. I spent ages playing with the G3 some time back, it has an excellent list of features & controls including knock and superb starting maps.

I think staged injection is worth the effort I will put the bigger injectors up the runner perhaps it will pay off a bit more with e85 as there is 30% more juice to evaporate and pull heat .

Hey, leave my Avatar out of this!! You too can have this, ask me how.
Adam I am very inexperienced with the use of Standalone however I've spoken to the guy from Advan in Sydney and he sounds very competent. He's played with i4 Porsches in the past even though like virtually every tuner in Australia, they specialise in Jap cars. Not much call for aftermarket Porsche tuning in these parts. Also Zoran uses G3+ and I'm going to catch up with him possibly tomorrow when he passes through Sydney. He's happy to share info, just like everyone else in the 951 world hahah. I am confidant that I am in good hands, but always happy to hear more experienced advice too.
